I mean, check out this.
With how this season turned out and all the difficulties we've faced especially in midfield with the injuries and what not I thought it would be worth it to take a look back at busquets.
He offered so many things, it's almost impossible to find in a single player.
Perfect positioning, excellenet reading of the game, press resistant, hard to disposess, making the right choice every time, great interceptions, tackles, playmaking, directing the game, cotroling the tempo, pressing, breaking down counters, short passess, long passes you name it.
I think the video speaks for itself but it's honestly like an almost different game altogether with him. The assurance he gives you when he has the ball, be it in buildup, possession, getting out from the back.
Compare to what we had this season, with all due respect to christensen who's done really well and gundo who's been exceptional but it's a whole other level with him on the pitch.
What do you think? We all knew he was crucial but how much has his departure affected the struggles this year?

One of the main reasons we won two trophies last season was because of him. Now, without him, we’re playing like dogshit. He was an underrated legend!
Yes

Busquets was underrated throughout his whole career
Keep in mind that Busquets was hate targeted his whole career from some guys. I think because of his unique playing style, taking that much risks in some situations. Some people dont like it.
He was in his peak and still had his fair amount of hate from certain people.
So whenhe started declining, there was what in my opinion was an exaggetion of his flaws. It may be also because when he started declining the team didnt play shit, so he was more exposed.
Considering that, yes, I think his last season was a bit underrrated.
However, when looking at numbers and comparing between these last two seasons, I think there are also some points to look at.
At the start of this season we tried to play with Cancelo on the right back and Balde on the left. Meaning our right back wasnt going to be the third center back when in ball possesion. Huge profile change there. That went back to normal with the Balde injury and we started being a little more solid deffensively.
When Romeu dropped, we played some games without any defensive minded midfield. Replacing Busi was going to be hard for sure, but not replacing him at all made us super vulnerable. Then we started playing Christensen there.
absolutely.
case in point, the quarterfinal second leg. we were playing a frenkie-pedri-FDJ midfield which was good for ball possession but a passenger everywhere else. playing busquets would’ve given us that defensive fortitude that we needed to defend a narrow lead and also the passing and creativity to keep going forward.
Technical skill was there but physical aspect wasn’t there
