A 39th game just doesn’t work, there’s no way of adding one in while keeping it fair and having something to play for.

This feels like a grubby way for FIFA to somehow act as an agent for staging overseas club games and taking a cut in the process.
I do think having regional leagues for smaller counties is the way ahead (such as a Benelux or Nordic league), but the idea of Barcelona playing a home La Liga game in Los Angeles is utterly disrespectful to its season ticket holders.
If Americans want to see top football in their country, invest in MLS and try to find a way to get their clubs into the UEFA Champions League, not steal European games from European fans.

After the fan protests over the super league I’m vaguely hopeful even if this gets some traction it can be stopped. Thoughit shouldnt be on the table in the first place .
We already do pre-season tours in the US and those alone are bad enough for our players. 39th game? Absolutely not.

I suppose it will happen anyway but when the national teams are short players due to injuries and the league form ends up sucking no one should feel pity! Fifa can also suck my left nut to boot!

I’m in favour of this, just hear me out. You can have them play each other in the US (or other countries for that matter) but do it before the season starts. It would be a good way to get players fit and it’s good for the international fans. If you just make it so there’s no points awarded for winning so it has no actual effect on the table. That’d be perfect. Maybe award a minor trophy instead of points to give the illusion that it matters but it doesn’t impact the table for fairness. They should just do it like that. If they did it like that, then there’d be no reason at all to suggest an actual competitive extra game abroad.
