  1. I imagine none of the tabloids and people who shat on Barça’s legacy will talk about this now, no ?

  2. But i thought this was the biggest scandal in Spanish football 🤷‍♂️ that’s what tebas and the Madrid media said

  3. Dont celebrate this ‘yet’
(this is as per my understanding correct me if i am wrong)
There were two cases one being this money laundering one and the other being a sports corruption one
The former was what the title is refering to by being proved false. You could say that it could be better if that claim would have sticked and we could blame it on idiot officials in our clubs ranks

However the main topic of sports corruption will now be focused upon. I dont think this is a process of elimination where just because money laundering didnt happen it must be sports corruption but i do think its an echo of the former case that was dropped.
So yeah its still in the air and tbh it seems like a case both parties will probably have a hard time proving

  4. This is not the big one. The one that accuses Barca of ongoing payments to influence referees is still ongoing. Moreover, there is still deliberation on taking the payments as government corruption or just sports corruption.

Not even sure this is good news, as money laundering was the lesser evil.

Hopefully Barca will be acquitted of the other one as well, which is the one that could really create a serious reputational issue to Barca and put a cloud over the most successful period of its history.

I would prefer total clearance, but if I had to choose one, money laundering was the one that at least didn’t extend to the football pitch.

  5. The comments on this post show how out of touch this sub is with the Negreira case. This doesn’t even scratch the surface of the impending allegations on Barca. There’s a long way to go for the final verdict.

  6. I am going to tell you something you may like and something you won’t:

    1. Payments were made there is proof of that, and has been recognised by Barça.

    2. No proof the purpose of the payment was for
    money laundering. First win.🥇

    2. Bribery: In order for bribery to exists, Referees have to be considered public officials. If not, the charge will be dropped. Second potential 🥇

    3. Sport corruption: Depends on the interpretation of the continuous payment during the years. Either crime happens continuously and therefore has not prescribed until last payment does it, or each payment is separated therefore most of timing of the payments is already prescribed. It could happen that most of the payments are prescribed. Moreover, in contrast to public bribery, in sports corruption you need to proof not only the payment but the wrongdoing. Third potential win 🥇.

To sump up, the most probable outcome is Barça not guilty. And despite all this, and even if Barça is cleared of these crimes, we still know that Barça management is currupt as fuck and paid referees during 17 years, so please do not act as victims and ask for responsibilities to your management.

If we were under US legislation where civil claims are allowed, then Barça could be liable of multimillion payments despite not guilty during criminal case.
