Actually genuinely happy for Barkley that he’s been able to resurrect his career but this feels like a bad move for him.
He needs to be a big fish in a smaller pond, at Luton he was the best player so he knew he’d be on the pitch when he’s fit but Villa has other midfielders who are good enough to keep him out of the team.
That being said, I get why Luton are cashing in, they’ll make decent money off a free signing and they’ll get his wages off the books.
I know he had a good season but I’m not sure this is a progression signing for Villa. I always think replace your starter and make him the back up rather than sign the back up. Either way happy for Barkley.
Deserved. He was great in that Luton team. He won’t be a starter but since Villa is in the Champions League, he could be seeing some game time.
Didn’t Villa already chew him up and spit him back out?
