"Burnley manager Vincent Kompany has emerged as a candidate for the vacant Bayern Munich role, according to Sky Germany.
Bayern have been focusing on a small group of potential new bosses from the Premier League and Kompany has been added to their list.
Provisional talks have taken place between the two parties.
Kompany was unable to keep Burnley in the Premier League this season having taken them up from the Championship.
Sky Germany also say that Hansi Flick, Erik ten Hag and Jose Mourinho are no longer candidates. "
This proves my personal theory for why he was so stubborn in pretending he was coaching Man City when he had burnley level talent. He did want to be view as the next Sean Dyche so he kept playing a highline and insisting on playing out from the back. He refused to be pragmatic (IMO) primarily to protect his imagine as a progressive football coach. He basically sacrificed burnley's premier league stint to ensure he would not have defensive pragmatic football associated with him.

It would be funny if Kompany did go to Bayern, more chance of Harry Kane never winning a trophy
He didn’t force his way into the Burnley job. Presumably someone knew what his style was and gave him the job anyway.
He coached Burnley the same way all season. There were 38 opportunities for someone to sack him and move onto a different manager but he stayed in place. He manages how he manages; if those up top aren’t happy it’s their job to change that.
Of course he’s thinking of his own future. Who isn’t?
Most of their games were very close, that says something. We don’t know that he and his team would perform any better if they deviated from what they always do.
How badly is Bayern’s manager search going if this is the new plan? I know they’ve already been turned down by the first 7/8 choices but this feels like a barrel is being scraped
Imagine Hansi Flick coming short compared to Kompany
But didn’t he get them PL football by doing so?
Bayern ?! What is going on
Kind of a weird stance to take here. There’s no right way to do it, defensive minded teams get yo-yo’ed up and down too. Brentford, Bournemouth, Brighton, Southampton have all had success in the past playing football that their budget would suggest they shouldn’t play.
Would results be different if a manager changes to a style that they maybe aren’t even prepared enough to coach for a full season? Not like kompany has decades of management experience with a bunch of styles to draw from. He’s only ever managed for ~5 seasons.
Obviously fans have the right to feel however they want about kompany. But unless he straight up lied to burnley about the type of football he was going to play, then there’s really nothing to complain about. They played the style the squad had been constructed to play and they got relegated. It happens
It wasn’t just kompanys decision it was s decision made in board room, stupid take
No way is he good enough for Bayern.
All this says is that Kompany has a good agent to get this rumor printed
It was a strange year for promoted teams in general, I think all 3 could have benefited from being more pragmatic and playing some defensive football.
This kinda proves the absurdity that is happening at Bayern tho. They sacked Tuchel, got rejected by 5-6 of their top candidates, shamelessly went back to Tuchel. Now they are scraping the bottom of the barrell. How the mighty have fallen.
None of the top young German coaches want to manage them!
I’ll be annoyed if he goes tbh. Gave him £100M when we came up, let him mould the squad in his image, put up with his disastrous tactics for a season only for him to fuck off to Bayern. He’ll probably take our best players with him if he goes too.
Wouldn’t blame him for going like, who wouldn’t? Just shit for us though.
