Lucas Paquetá has officially been charged by the FA. Signing him is looking very unlikely at this stage.

  1. The FA released a statement including “The player has been charged with four breaches of FA Rule E5.1 in relation to his conduct in the club’s Premier League fixtures against Leicester City on November 12 2022; Aston Villa on March 12 2023; Leeds United on May 21 2023; and AFC Bournemouth on August 12 2023.”

  2. Strange that it happens when we are linked with him.

  3. Damn I was really hoping this would have cleared up, not worth this mess

  4. Writz – musiala – //// paqueta is a good player but it’s a mess

  5. Shame. He’s a top player and would slot into this side with ease but best to turn our attention elsewhere

  6. I’m guessing the chances of Bernardo staying are higher now

  7. This could be a huge ban too. Way longer than Toney or Tonali. Theres precident for 10 years/permanent ban.

  8. As far as I know, City wanted Bruno Guimarães and Paquetá. Who are they going for now? Olmo? Wirtz and Musiala seems unlikely

  9. Coicidentally or not (who am I to say) it happens right when the transfer window is around the corner and it seems like betway is also against the player (west ham main sponsor).

I am sure it is all a coincidence.

WE KNOW WHAT WE NEED TO DO

  11. If the charges are disputed I think we should still try to sign him because we’re the ones who knows what it’s like to be falsely accused

  12. Eze, Dani Olmo, Wirtz, Musiala, James McAtee, Brahim, Bruno G, Olise, Kudus

These are the players I think we should go for or play James McAtee or Foden to play that role and sign Olise

  13. Not clearing him of any fault, but it’s so inconveniant that he always gets accused near transfer windows

  14. Bro is a multimillionaire in London yet still decided to bet/fix his own games.

I do have sympathies for him but he is not only throwing away a lifetime opportunity to play under the goat coach in the best club of the last few years, he is putting his career into jeopardy.

I’d have liked to see him under Pep but the club cannot afford a loose end in a big signing

  15. Ffs. Thwarted 2 years on the bounce.

Completely aware of the irony of a city fan complaining about the length of time it’s taken to get this sorted but…..

This guy could have been charged and served a suspension in the time thats passed between the allegations and now. Feels like they’ve really dragged their feet.

  16. Wow. These are pretty serious so I expect a very lengthy ban once it’s over.

I guess Paqueta won’t be coming after all.

Actually very lucky this stopped us from buying him now. If this happened after we got him in it would be horrific.

Feel bad for West Ham though, they’re going to be out a star for likely a very long time.

Tonali was banned for 10 months, then a further 2 months for even making bets. Being found to have been intentionally getting cards to affect betting will likely get a much worse ban I’d surmise.

  17. Wow those are very serious charges. I don’t think even Tony was charged with deliberately sabotaging to influence the betting market. Pretty sad, cause Paqueta is a genuine baller.
