Easily my favorite and the one that made me go read the books
It is the very best Harry Potter film. It’s an actual film, with motifs and symbolism even! After the cloying sweetness and uninspiring filmmaking of the first two, this was like suddenly Empire Strikes Back! Middle fingers Del Toro!
The article is saying that Del Toro convinced him to direct it because he didn’t know what it was he was being offered. Thank you, Del Toro.
Even if you didn’t read the article (which, let’s be honest: Most are not), they are both good friends in real life, and fully acknowledge that directing a Harry Potter movie was most certainly a huge deal, and thinking a project such as it were beneath them would be hugely arrogant.
(Unlike these days of course: where if you’re offered a Marvel gig let’s say, you outta stay clear away)
Best. Potter. Film.
Seriously? Well who cares, I loved the third one.
Well del Toro hasn’t made a single good movie since pans labyrinth so, I wouldn’t call his judgement sound.
While not my favorite HP film but I’ve grown used to it’s art direction and tone.
Ironically, it’s the best Potter movie. Of course, after the first two Chris Columbus movies.
It remains my favorite harry potter film.
