1. It’s a serious policy failure that this is happening; the people paying to cap wells should be the ones who became wealthy by extracting the oil, not a bunch of random teenagers.

2. Each school should adopt an orphan well and shut it down. I’m sure energy companies would reassure students they’re committed to renewables, help them survive on renewables, and deliver renewables by the time they graduate.
