  1. I have to disagree with Bernardo Silva here, because in a hypothetical scenario where the away goals rule still existed for the Manchester City-Real Madrid UCL Quarter-Final Tie, I guarantee you that the first leg would not have ended 3-3, there’s a good chance it likely ends 1-1 with both teams playing it kind of safe, Real Madrid would try and defend so Manchester City would not get a load of away goals, and Manchester City would probably take a 1-1 with all to play for at the Etihad, the second leg still likely ends 1-1 in this scenario, with Real Madrid still winning on penalties, so in all likelihood Real Madrid still probably go through anyways even if the away goals rule existed, I am glad though that UEFA got rid of the away goals rule in the UCL, it makes the teams play more freely in both legs, and all of the ties are overall much more entertaining as a result of the away goals rule getting scraped.

  2. Away goals were done away with, and nobody had missed them.

In fact, I’d argue we’ve seen way more exciting games across all three European competitions since 2021.

That game would also not have ended 3-3. It would have been a lot cagier. City, with an early away goal would immediately have begun thinking how they can hold that cushion over the remainder of the two ties. That’s always how away goal ties ended up panning out.

  3. Before he concerns himself with away goals maybe he should reconsider shitty penalties in a CL quarter

  4. These kind of statements makes him Tailor-made for Barcelona (oozing Xavi vibe)

  5. Real Madrid technically didn’t beat City at the Etihad.
