DeCoding Putin’s LAMEST Propaganda!

Russian propaganda pervades the information space not just in the Russian world but in the English-speaking world as well but how do we distinguish and pick apart Russian talking points well I’m going to take a look at one of the most recent talking points coming out of the Kremlin and we’re going to break down why it’s a load of nonsense I’m Paul US Army Combat veteran let’s get into it okay this is a story that has been making the rounds in Russian Affiliated media and this is repeating a claim by Putin that zalinski is no longer the legitimate leader of Ukraine uh and essentially what Putin is arguing is that the uh zalinski uh reached the end of his five-year term in May and that therefore because he continues to serve as president he is UN unable to uh adhere to the Constitution right and Putin who bear in mind has ruled Russia for 20 plus years uh actually modifying Russia’s Constitution repeatedly to allow him to continue to serve as the country’s head the hypocrisy is should be lost on nobody but what I want to point out is that here’s this is RT a a explicitly a Russian propaganda Outlet uh so we can see that even RT that this talking point gets repeated right so Putin makes this claim then it gets picked up by things like Yahoo news which while they ackowledge that it’s Putin saying it they also acknowled they also repeat his fundamental points meaning that you’ve taken a fairly straightforward issue right zalinsky is the president of Ukraine and turned it into a sudden wedge issue right now there are two stances there his he is the president of Ukraine and he’s not and this is Again part of a goal to fracture the Western uh consensus for supporting Ukraine and the Viewpoint that Ukraine is a democratic country uh adhering largely to democratic values similar to those in Western Europe and North America and this is in contrast to Russian uh authoritarian States right like Russia and China so what I thought again even in Beijing Putin says well an expert opinion needs to clarify whether zinski is legally still in office which is again you’re Putin get an expert opinion right this is a this is just like one of the most annoying debate tactics that it’s not just Putin that uses it there’s lots of people that go well I don’t know I’m not an expert but let me talk out my ass here for a while it’s and it’s like someone should look into this someone should look into it that’s not a stance okay right it’s like saying well I have I don’t know about that I don’t know about that is not an argument if you don’t think someone should do something then just say it if Putin believes that right and and here’s the thing Putin knows he’s he’s a very very intelligent Guy this is part of his propaganda machines but a lot of the people that repeat his talking points use those same rhetorical techniques of they’re not taking a stance they’re merely expressing some kind of doubt and there’s some stuff with like legal cases where if you know what you’re saying is absolutely without evidence you instead frame it in that way to kind of try to introduce some some uh reduction of legal liability at least in the United States so you can’t say things like like like uh President Biden I know President Biden is a space alien right I know he was beamed here from outer space you go someone should look into these alien things someone should see if President Biden’s really A Space Alien I don’t know he could be a human he could be an alien it could be any no one’s looked into it why not right so this first one is an obvious lie the second Ukraine zalinski says Russian elections oh an illegitimate invitation actually I’m sorry this is the wrong story this is zalinsky saying Russian elections are actually the ones who are fraudulent here right here’s a different here’s like from the Kev independent who says Putin rejects zelinsky’s legitimacy drives me up the wall so here’s some analysis right from isw in case you have somebody who has this talking point right you weird Boomer cooworker from work is like zinu is all legitimate here’s the way it works here’s the reality right Putin talking about the press conference okay Putin said that the Ukrainian Parliament constitutional Court need to examine the Ukrainian Constitution to determine the legality of officials remaining in office past their stated terms which has been done and they’ve this has been realized Ukrainian they said yes this is legitimate it aderes to Ukrainian law right now the reality is that the Ukrainian Constitution is a so here is a good breakdown from The Institute for the study of War on this particular issue first off the person who is would be most likely to have an issue with this the person who would succeed zalinski in in the presidency under Putin’s fantasy scenario would be the Speaker of the House of the Ukrainian Parliament right speaker of the vov NADA and this the speaker himself is like no I don’t want to this we we’re doing things the normal way and the short answer of why things are the way they are is that the Ukrainian Constitution says that if the term of office of the parliament expires during a period of Martial law its powers can be extended to the day of the first meeting the first session of after the abolition of the state of Martial law or emergency right under a law that was passed Again by the Ukrainian Parliament that says that listen during martial law you cannot conduct elections for the president of Ukraine and so Putin is claiming that because elections cannot happen zalinski is illegitimate the problem is is that right the president of Ukraine one is still subject to accountability right he is the current law and Constitution says that zalinsky can still be removed by Parliament through impeachment if he commits treason or another crime right and while the performance of the duties of the president right before the scheduled election if the president can’t perform those duties then the chairman of the vova takes over which is applies in the case of early termination right such as right events like uh inability to fulfill their powers due to their health removal from office by impeachment and death right so here’s the thing if Ukrainian law itself says that listen elections are just going to get pushed back till the end of Martial law then the president is perfectly capable of fulfilling his duties and he’s still subject to checks and balances from the parliament so this is not a situation in which Ukrainian law is being violated the Constitution is not being violated in fact large numbers of countries have caveats that say in the event of the Declaration of Martial law elections have to be delayed and if you think about it if you apply a little bit of your brain you’re going to realize that this makes perfect sense because remember Ukraine has a a claim and thousands of citizens tens of thousands of citizens are currently in occupied Ukraine they have not surrendered their constit their Ukrainian right as Ukrainian citizens they have a right to an election and so the fact that you can’t have these all of these people you can’t just handwave away their votes you also have hundreds of thousands of ukrainians who are serving on the front lines how will they vote right especially when you have someone like Russia who would absolutely exploit vote the the the you know Ukrainian forces coming off the line to vote but even worse you have an adversary like Russia who we know has no qualms about thwarting interfering or messing with elections so how do you ensure election security when you can’t even ensure control of your entire country you see how quickly that holding a an election of any kind under martial law is pretty impossible right and again if this system were to be abused the parliament would impeach zalinski and replace him with either the speaker of the house or would hold elections or Force the revocation of Martial law so again this isn’t like there he is unaccountable this is a normal thing that states do in order to ensure the survival of their country right and if it it requires postponing elections this is just a thing that happens right again the German ambassador literally said yo our constit has the same caveats we have the same carve outs that you can’t hold elections while your country’s being invaded and so the fact is that nobody and in public opinion surveys it’s clear that zalinsky would would win as a matter of fact he’s like 85% Public public support and so the fact is that even if Ukraine were to assume the massive risk and somehow through some sort of insane Miracle magically get ballots to all of the Ukrainian citizens in the occupied regions somehow were to do all those things it would just be to reaffirm zelinsky’s term so this is an example of like Russian propaganda how it sort of pervades the system and why it’s obviously nonsense so thank
