why is this the world’s deadliest border almost 30,000 people have died or went missing in the Mediterranean SE in the past 10 years these people were trying to reach Europe from North Africa and the Middle East some were fleeing Wars and persecution others wanted to escape poverty many people want to seek asylum in the European Union but you can only apply for asylum on EU territory and the EU wants to reduce irregular migration and only first few legal ways to enter that’s where Smugglers come in they profit from Desperate people willing to take the dangerous routes across the sea and because Smugglers cram people into unseaworthy boats this leads to shipwrecks the EU doesn’t even have a dedicated Rescue Mission anymore human rights organizations accuse the EU of contributing to the high loss of life but none of this keeps people from trying to migrate

The European Union is struggling to deal with migration—the consequences for migrants and refugees are dire. The bloc has agreed on tough restrictions and is making deals with autocrats to keep migrants out.

  2. the EU is sabotaging Mediterranean countries from protecting their borders. German NGO ships which help boats get into the EU should be treated as criminal smugglers too.

  3. Typical, journalists are always socialist! 'The EU doesn't even have a dedicated rescue mission anymore'. Think of it, what if it was the other way around? Do you think that they would have rescue ships out there to help? Get real! They don't even help themselves! So what are we supposed to do? Then, we will vote for far-right political parties, and then the socialist journalists cry about it. You guys are overpaid.   4. Its almost like getting rid of Gadaffi in Libya wasnt a good idea, after all he not only held people back from crossing the sea but also made his country richer than ever. But oh whats that? NATO got him killed over oil access and the USA being afraid of a gold backed currency and now for over decade the people have been suffering worse than ever before.
    Greed never pays out.

  6. Why would the EU take responsibility for those who migrated illegally, they did nothing except for the burden of taxpayers and increases crime rates.
