  1. Honestly, I’m curious to see if he could get back in form under Kompany.

At 23, he’s far from finished and we know he has it in him.

  2. Bayern can let Coman go, use Davies as a winger just like they did against Real and still have funds to sign a new leftback.

Losing him and Coman in a single transfer window would be quite the blow.

  3. I feel a lot of negativity around Davies but at the end of the day he’s still only 23. Feels like things went downhill for him since he got myocarditis, but i trust that he can still turn it around and with his focus entirely on Bayern next year, he’s gonna be great 💪🏽💪🏽

  4. Kompany’s system will be a lot better fit for Phonzie than Tuchel’s was.

To thrive he needs to be a wingback in a back 5, or play in an asymmetric back 4 where he can play *like* a wingback. This is exactly what Kompany has done previously, and likely to do here as well.

He either has one fullback invert into midfield (Kimmich would be our best option here), or he has one drop into a back 3 (like we used to have Pavard do, when Phonzie was at his best, this would work best with Stanisic). Either way the opposite fullback pushes wide and plays on the touchline as a wingback (Davies).

It wasn’t too long ago under more-or-less this system that everyone thought Davies was a 100m+ player and the best young fullback in the world; certainly worth giving him another shot back in a system that fits.

  5. Have to say this just feels like a better solution than selling him for pennies to Madrid. At least if they come back again in a year or 2, we’d have the leverage of the contract. Losing him for like $20m or $30m or whatever the number was rumored at the other day
