UK MoD: May 2024 was a BLOODBATH for Russian Troops!

when you look at the territory control map sometimes it can feel like Russia is continuing to advance but when you look at the casualty numbers released recently by Ukraine and even the UK you see a different story is this actually a bloodbath for the Russians I’m Paul US Army Combat veteran let’s get into it okay so this is actually coming to us from the the the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reporting that Russia lost 12,000 sorry 1,2 90 troops as well as 102 vehicles and 65 artillery systems in a single day this is one of the highest daily losses that we’ve seen this year from the Russian military uh now again it’s figures from Ukraine’s military that they have an incentive to to push the numbers as high as they can reasonably go and remember casualties aren’t the same thing as Kia right uh casualties reflect anyone who’s been wounded so some of these folks will probably recuperate for as little as a week before being sent back to the front line while some are Kia they’re going to go be buried in Russia and so but the important thing is that in one day nearly a battalion of soldiers got put out of the fight as well as several battalions worth of stuff uh and this pushes the total casualties for Russia in this conflict to over half a million uh now again according to Ukraine but I actually kind of believe this and we’ll talk about why in a minute but as we’ve talked about uh Russia has basically committed to launching its offensive um early right they wanted to take advantage of the fact that Ukraine uh hadn’t yet received or hasn’t yet received the full replenishment of aid from the United States and so Russia’s pushing very hard across all sorts of regions the front line again fighting in harke fighting here in the Northeast fighting heavily in denet around a diva and even continuing some offensive actions in the South now the reason though Russia had to push its timetable up so while normally it would have better equipping for its troops and more armored vehicles and more robust Supply chains because this was launched a bit early right I think they actually thought that the aid bill would just not get passed um it seems like Russian uh infantry are bearing the brunt of the fighting and therefore some of the highest casualties in fact uh Russia has reportedly in the month of May suffered some of the highest casualties uh of the entire War which is pretty Preposterous right uh Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense claiming that the May casualty numbers nearly 40,000 again important because Russia can mobilize about 30,000 troops a month on average so the fact is that they’re losing more troops than they’re bringing into the military is a huge sign that uh Ukraine’s pivot to an attrition first strategy is at least achieving its objectives right now here’s why I think this is likely to be true um first off actually actually before I talk about that I wanted to mention combat F news the reason is because you guys know that I have been partnering with Ukraine Aid Ops uh to raise money for a military police unit in Ukraine in fact these guys are fighting in volens and as you can see we’ve raised a tremendous amount of money for them these guys what I like about Ukraine adops first they’re super transparent like you follow them on Instagram and they will post with the unit at the front line being like here’s the drones here’s the Jammers that you raised so I like that transparency um I also like the fact that they’re a US 501c3 which means that as a US citizen when I donate it’s tax deductible um and uh obviously I’m extremely biased because Leu uh Brigade is a police Brigade they actually answer to the National Police of Ukraine um but they are a uh to me uh emblematic of the military police um which is true in almost any country you see that the military police are treated like the Swiss army knife of the military right instead of being highly specialized they can do just about anything uh and leute definitely takes that to the max where again when the UK Ministry of Defense needed a unit to stop the Russians cold in vens that’s who they put on speed dial so I’m happy to support them again this fundraiser is focusing primarily on drone Jammers to jam Russian fpv drones and frequency analyzers to determine what frequencies the Russians are using to to um communicate with their drones right so this one first off the UK Ministry of intelligence which remember the analysis is public but but the sources are not that’s the thing to remember from some of these Intel assessments is that the often times they’ll sit there and say listen we can tell you what we think is happening we can’t tell you why but you know that the UK is what’s called a five eyes country and so that means that at the highest levels of intelligence gathering uh the US UK Australia New Zealand and Canada all share information with each other about their their well-placed sources inside Russia uh intercepted Communications they’re all crosschecking each other and so while sometimes their specific analysis will differ usually it’s pretty aligned in especially in factual areas like this and you could see from just a few days ago uh again 31 May uh the UK Ministry of Defense intelligence uh Ministry is saying that the total number of Russian troops over half a million right and that in May average Russian Personnel casualties were over 1,200 a day the highest reported since the start of the war so if Ukraine sits there and goes yeah things are about 5% higher than the than the May average that’s pretty believable especially given the fact that we know during May Ukrainian troops were being very conservative with their ammunition they were being very deliberate with where they targeted and now they can really drop the the hammer so to speak on Russian forces so you absolutely would expect to see Russian casualties rise in the face of a better equipped better manned Ukrainian uh military right uh they also acknowledge Russian forces receiving limited training unable to carry out complex offensive operations right meaning that Russia again is employing small scale but but they say costly uh in Manpower uh costly High casualty wave attacks and effort to weaken Ukrainian defenses we’ve seen this we’ve seen this is this is the Russian M the other thing that makes me think this is a true stat is that the Russian military is reportedly to just forgoing their uh justice Pro System entirely for service members that refuse to fight in Ukraine instead they’re just arresting them packing them up and shipping them to Ukraine and forcing them to fight which should make you think which implies the existence of a strong coercion uh mechanism likely uh blocking units or um someone else who’s going to basically uh I’ll shoot you if you I’ll shoot you if you don’t go on the attack and you’ll be shot by the ukrainians if you do um again this is coming from a Russian opposition Outlet uh but the Russian military authorities have begun forcibly sending hundreds of service members who refuse to take part in UK in the Ukraine fighting um and has normally what happens or what’s supposed to happen the Russian military is supposed to hold these service members at unit military um uh Briggs is what we call them in in the US right or or detention facilities right where they await trial for crimes related stemming from their refusal to fight apparently Russia’s now canceling those trial dates and immediately shipping these guys to Ukraine so for Russia they look and they say listen it literally dudes who said I’m not going to fight it’s still Russia is so desperate for Manpower there’s still giving these guys weapons should be a bad sign and then sending them to go fight in the front line right they say Russian uh authorities are using physical abuse uh to coer some soldiers into volunteering to for Ukraine and others are just being held at gunpoint transported to the front lines all of this seems completely aligned with the Russia we all know and uh hate um right and of course uh a uh commissioner for human rights within the Russian Federation which again this is a state entity so you know they’re going to talk their book said they visited a collection point for service members who refused to fight but there were no violations of service member civil rights FYI guys if someone knows that an inspection is coming uh then they clean up their act almost immediately when I would do Detention Facility inspections one we knew that happened and our rule was that we would only you only found out we were doing the inspection when we knocked on your front door at 7:00 a.m. um and again it wouldn’t mean that they couldn’t I know for a fact they would often try to stall us as inspectors to clean things up but there’s some things that you just can’t clean up um when you’ve got the inspectors right you can’t you can’t for example miraculously stock all your food um you can’t miraculously fix expiration dates that sort of thing um you can’t miraculously uh get your cleaners on schedule right so but the point is is that if this person knew the inspection was coming if the facility knew the inspection was coming they’re not going to be like beating this the breaks off their prisoners they’ll probably tell their prisoners if you tell this Z budsman anything we will flip and shoot you right now the the uh right one Russian uh official has actually said that the Russian military is now sending conscripts and incompetent reserv so reservists who are basically nonfunctional but have signed contracts to non-combat roles in Russia’s border forces to free up experienced military personnel for the Russian offensive in harke uh but the Russian military is also sending deserters to fight uh right so this is uh again a reflection I think of the increasing desperation uh that Russia is feeling and that is I think a a sign that this strategy of attrition is working right you Russia does not have an infinite number of troops to use and if they can lose troops faster than they can replenish them every subsequent iteration of troops is going to become more and more incompetent the secret though for Ukraine is that they have to minimize their own casualties in turn anyway guys that’s all I had thank you so much to the colonel tier   2. Putin doesn't care but I wonder, many men in Russia will hide in some kind of Forrest or just leave the country to not end up on the casualty list and it will be harder to find for Putin cannon fodder.

  5. The thing is Ukraines Losses are just as bad if not worse day to day. Ukraine is running out of men. No matter how much money and equipment is sent they will run out of troops to use them. Ukraine should has pushed for peace two years ago.

  6. Perspective…. The US had about 200,000 casualties (52,000 KIA) in 14 years of the Viet Nam conflict. Russia lost about 500,000 in two years and three months. So if the Ukranian war was to last as long as Viet Nam, Russia would have about 3 million casualties.

  11. I'm not buying the numbers. Firstly because it's Ukrainian estimates (after invasion Ukrainians somehow are trustworthy now?) gimme a break.
    Secondly, the British ministry of defence is a clusterfk. An incompetent bunch of buffoons. Just like the government. I've seen enough video to know Ukrainians are getting absolutely effed up just like the Russians but it's all one sided reporting in the west. If it wasn't for drones ukraine would already be lost.

  13. Why do you say Ukraine has an incentive to push the numbers higher. I disagree with that entirely. Ukraine knows that the whole world is watching. They KNOW that buffed up numbers for local consumption is SILLY because of Cell PHONES. Ukraine's civilians do not live in Isolation! President Zelensky is begging the whole WORLD for help. Why would anyone help if the numbers are faked to look better than they are!

    In the American Revolution Ben Franklin as the rebel ambassador to France faced the same dilemma trying to get France to commit to our cause. He almost had them just a couple of months before that horrible Winter at Valley Forge.
    In September of 1777 the Rebels smashed Gen. Burgoyne's Army at Saratoga. France took a giant step BACKWARD! America WON A BATTLE, and Benjamin Franklin WEPT.

    Zelensky is in that boat RIGHT NOW. If he wins BIG, foreign support may well dry up. So I believe he and Ukraine are majorly incentivized to UNDER COUNT their successes.

    This business of assuming an upward exaggeration is just a MEME from High School History classes. It is not true in all cases, particularly those where one side is begging for help.

  14. The underlying issue for Ukraine is that Russia is able to take extremely high casualties as long as they walk away with a ‘win’.

    The underlying issue for Russia is that in order to take territory it is taking extreme losses that risks internal instability over the long haul, especially if they can’t claim a substantial victory.

  31. Clever move by Ukraine. Last years offensive failed due to Russian defences, now they are drawing Russians out of these structures and beating them in open ground. Leave them with too few trained troops to man the defences effectively

    1905 Japan L
    1914 WW1 L
    1920 Poland L
    1939 Finland W
    1941 WW2. W
    1979 Afghanistan L
    1995 Chechnya 1 L
    2005 Chechnya 2 W
    2008 Georgia. W
    2022 Ukraine. ?

    This gives Russia 4 wins. Russia was on the winning side in WW2, but so many countries also fought against Russia's enemies, that this result is an outlier.

    Russia has around 150 million people. The countries Russia won against (other than WW2) have a population of:
    Finland. 5.5 million
    Chechnya 1.5 million
    Georgia 3.7 million

    All-in-all, not a stellar record.

  37. Note that the Ukrainians can only count the casualties, that they witness. Not included are red-on-red incidents like, barrier troops killing their own, commanders executing their own, incidents involving mines, freezing to death, dying during different forms of punishment

  38. Putin has Parkinson Disease… no wait cancer!… wait, he's at least on his death bed, right?. The Russians are out of ammo and are fighting with shovels. Ukraine is winning in Bakhmut… no, Avdiivka… wait, we meant Chasiv Yar. Ukraine only has 30K KIA (gag). This is not even propaganda, just outright lies.
    The facts: The Rus have a 10 to 1 fire power advantage and air superiority. They have a 3 to 1 troop advantage and growing. Russia's stated goals from the beginning: 1. De-militarize Ukraine, 2. De-Nazify Ukraine, 3. Liberate the predominately (if not overwhelmingly) ethnic Russian speaking oblasts in Ukraine while minimizing casualties. Russia is playing the long game, hence the embarrassing but necessary tactical retreat in 2022. Ukraine is playing the short-term publicity game, which results in tactics such as throwing good troops after dead troops in the Bakhmut and Andiivka meat-grinders when a tactical retreat made more sense.
    The U.S. thought they could easily cripple Russia with just sanctions, but Russia is not Venezuela. Everyone thought Russia was saber-rattling when they announced their intention to invade Ukraine, but they weren't lying. The US ow calls the threats of nuclear strikes by Russia as more saber-rattling. Our assessments have been wrong over and over again. The West is whistling past the nuclear grave yard. with each escalation Peace talks sound good to me.
