Macron and Zelensky signed ‘a number of’ declarations and deals • FRANCE 24 English

well first of all it was a very warm welcome for Ukrainian President Vladimir zalinsky and the Ukrainian First Lady by Emanuel mcon and brigit mcon also uh the two leaders then went into a meeting uh with a broader delegation of French and Ukrainian Representatives before giving a press conference and signing a number of declarations and Deals uh including 650 million EUR worth of Grants and loans that will go towards notably uh uh rehabilitating critical infrastructure in particular energy infrastructure that’s been uh targeted by Russian strikes uh in recent days and weeks um and also uh as you mentioned the uh Mirage 2000 fighter jets that maon said that he would uh send to Ukraine the president didn’t specify the number that would be sent uh saying that was for strategic reasons but also said that the priority now was training Ukrainian p uh Pilots to use these aircraft uh would start uh as soon as possible uh which he said takes about five to six months and then training a whole Brigade of Ukrainian troops 4,500 the French President also touched on a controversial issue at least here in France uh about the uh possibility of sending military inst structures to train Ukrainian troops on Ukrainian soil this comes after uh Kremlin the Kremlin spokesperson earlier this week said said that any foreign uh trainers would not uh be immune from Russian strikes so couldn’t rule out that they they could be involved in Russian strikes uh M has come under criticism from leaders on both the left and the right here in France for that saying that this represents a red line well the president in this press conference said uh this is not a red line France is not at war with Russia this is about recognizing Ukraine’s sovereignty and zalinski also said that this uh this would just uh make a shortcut at the moment Ukrainian troops are trained in other countries this would make this a lot this whole process a lot more efficient if they could be trained on Ukrainian uh soil which mcon said was a legitimate uh request overall though the the tone from Emanuel macron he said that Ukraine has France’s support it’s had it since day one and it will have it till the last day he said there will be a last day vowing that there that you Ukraine will uh know peace again

The two leaders went into a meeting with a broader delegation of French and Ukrainian representatives before giving a press conference and signing a number of declarations and deals. This includes €650 million worth of grants and loans that will go towards rehabilitating critcal infrastructure, and particularly energy infrastructure that has been targeted by Russian strikes.

  7. Like I said, Macron realizes the US military dominance of NATO is at an end; its 75-year run over. Someone needs to replace the US as the major source of weapons and only France has the MIC that can do ships, planes, tanks, missiles, and subs. Macron wants France to have the Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman's of the 21st Century. On this, I cannot blame him…
