104-year-old Omaha veteran remembers D-Day

people say to me how was it like this private Ry like it on the longest day not even close that long promised day of invasion dday first Division and the 29th division on dday at 5,720 casualties the next day they were not able to fight anymore there weren’t enough left and and I was on a ship I was a I was in a CL regim and we took over the fight with 115 the 116 which landed first yeah they had no more fight left to go cu the Germans took it away from that’s it was J but it wasn’t like private line

  9. Never thought we would ever be as close to this again! ….I thank all those who fought to give me and my children the freedom we have today…the world has forgotten what extreme politics can do. Left and right extremism and nationalism needs to be outlawed one and for all.

  14. I look at the Gentlemen who have returned from war and their senses still seem as if they have only been home from war for a few days.

  15. I would sit for hours and listen to these war veteran's war tales if they would tell them. So much would we learn from them and how humbling it would be. However, so much of it was horrific, tough and affected these war heroes mentally, that many probably will still not talk about it. I am guessing these young heroes battled a barrage of bullets, fought through barbed wire, mines, guns, tanks, lack of medics, loss of limbs, seeing their fellow mates fall, and suffered immense stress and anxiety, and so much more. These men and women did it for us all. Less We Forget the Fallen and honour those who are alive.

  21. What’s really crazy is that a 104 year old can talk clearly & remember things from 80 years ago. Meanwhile, our current president can barely talk, turns into a roomba at the end of speeches, and needs to be told what to do.

  28. Whats crazy is that my grandfather fought to stop a genocide and a land grab only for those people to go do it to the Palestinians.
