Putin ultimatum ‘not taken seriously’ as steps to end the war in Ukraine begin

it seemed like a good idea bring together leaders from 90 countries and get them to agree to support Ukraine thereby forcing Russia into making peace sadly it didn’t work India South Africa and Saudi Arabia couldn’t even agree that Ukraine should have territorial Integrity so what was the point of all that Katarina maloa is a journalist in harke and joins us now good morning to you good morning um what is what what is the kind of um the perception the reaction um in in Ukraine to to these kind of summits um and especially when what comes out of of it is it seems to be a lack of concrete support for Ukraine is that disappointing um in Ukraine this actually there different opinions among the people among the population because um obviously everyone expects the peace uh to establish at some point and ideally as soon as possible so um um but majority of opinion that I heard they do not agree that you know some uh big countries that didn’t sign the final commun after the as a result of the summit uh it’s it doesn’t really it doesn’t affect that much uh the very effect of the of the summit that happened because um first of all first and foremost uh the key result of this Summit of this peace Summit is actually that the majority of the countries agreed with the formula uh suggested by V zyan president not by any other like not by Russia not by uh China not any other uh countries they um agreed and um in even like the prevailing majority of the count signed the final communic right uh it also shows that the process have started so we know that about there are two ways of uh dealing uh the front line the the war and diplomatic so diplomatic uh diplomatic way of um finishing the the war has have started has started and it will be now working in the Paradigm of in particular VY yeah and we I think that it was quite smart to establish those three main points that zansky suggests should be yeah um I mean this may seem um uh uh naive but what is the point I suppose some people would ask of of of discussing anything that’s happening between Ukraine and Russia without Russia present I mean they were not obviously they were not invited but isn’t within that is that not the problem well excellent I absolutely agree with you and uh yesterday’s um as a result of the communication you know few Ukrainian leaders me mentioned that um the at the next at the next peace talks that might even happen before the US election that might haveen even happen even this year that Russia will be invited but you know um there wasn’t the day before Summit began there was an ultimate ultimate by Vladimir Putin uh showing that absolutely unacceptable um unacceptable the the way of dealing of resolving the conflict um and shows actually that it was impossible to negotiate you know some U majority of the countries actually didn’t really take it uh seriously except for probably this the countries of the global South yes that’s interesting K Kina thank you very much for that that is Karina maloa she’s a journalist in har how are you you knowers Comm pleasure I will run sorry invite the president of Ukraine volir selinski the very idea of War has already lost Putin should switch from the language of ultimatums to the language of the world majority which wants a just peace wish this to anyone I sincerely wish that all of you the UN Charter is the basis for us and then when the action plan is on the table agreed by all and transparent for the peoples then it will be communicated to the representatives of Russia and so that at the second pce Summit we can fix the real end of the war now we are starting this path together we must prove that the United world is the world of Peace a world that knows how to act correctly camea Harris thank you thank you president and let nothing about the end of this war be decided without Ukraine by contrast however yesterday Putin put forward a proposal but we must speak truth he is not calling for negotiations he is calling for surrender [Applause] thank you Madame Vice President excellencies we have freezing the conflict today with foreign troops occupying Ukrainian land is not an answer in fact it is a recipe for future Wars of aggression instead we need to support a comprehensive just and sustainable peace for Ukraine framework for a comprehensive and Las it is true peace in Ukraine cannot be achieved without involving Russia but let us not forget that as we speak Russia continues is to relentlessly wag its brutal War we all know Russia could end this war today or at any given moment once it seiz it it its Onslaught and withdraws troops from Ukraine by contrast however yesterday I renew the state of qq’s call on all parties to comply with Charter of United Nation and international law respect the sovereignty and territorial Integrity of states to uphold our Collective commitment to settle international disputes by peaceful means and to refrain from threatening or to threatening to or resorting to the use of force auth as an interational community and we will continue to lend our support to all efforts to facilate to facilitate dialogue between both parties we believe it is important that the International Community encourage any step towards serious negotiations which will require difficult compromise as part of a road map that leads to peace and here it is essential to emphasize that any credible process will need Russia’s participation of the United Kingdom Rishi sunak and we should ask why does Russia feel that they are so threatened by a summit discussing the basic principles of territorial Integrity food security and nuclear safety instead Russia’s representative at the United Nations recently said the only topic for any International meetings on Ukraine will be the unconditional surrender of the ke regime well that will never happen CU aggression cannot and will not [Applause] Prevail Russia’s aggression against Ukraine is unlawful and just and a violation of the fundamental principles of international law which honor The Sovereign equality of Nations upholds their territorial integrity and Advocates the peaceful resolution of all [Applause] disagreements the war in the Middle East has been equally devastating so is the case with the war in the Sahel region in Africa in eastern DRC in Somalia in the Horn of Africa and of course in the Sudan thank you [Applause]

“The prevailing majority of countries signed the final communique.”

The process of ending the Russia-Ukraine war diplomatically “has started” after the global peace summit, says journalist Kateryna Malofieieva.

  1. The West is ashamed of it's colonial period, is making amends for it while Russia is proud of it and is repeating it on a even more brutal way, the people of India, as relatively recent victims of violent colonialism supporting on large numbers the slaughter of Ukanians is beyond discusting.

  2. It's about time that "we" realize that Mr. Putin has the upper hand and defeated us, on the battlefield and economically. Had the warmongers been realistic two years ago, many lives would have been saved. Next step ist to admit to the defeat! But can the western leaders do that – it's not just a coincidence that they all lost the trust of the voters in their countries. Scholz, Sunak, the US Biden administration, Van der Leyen and so on!

  3. The west doesn’t want to end the war as they making too much money from the Israeli owned European arms manufacturers, and the US will make millions from dodgy IMF loans that Ukraine will never be able to pay off.

  4. Who funds this channel? Why are they paying delusional brainwashed lunatics to tell absolute garbage untruths?

  5. South Africa isn’t even a third world country at this point if we’re all being honest. Who cares what they agree to? South Africa only wishes they had any borders worth breaching.
    Please

  6. 😂😂😂Putins ultimatum not taken seriously…a failed summit with no backing except the west..still struggling to defeat a single russia😂😂u westerners live in suchh a fantasy bubble that Russia is losing😂😂

  7. This Times Radio commentator is not supportive of any pro-Western goals. She is this way on both Ukraine and Gaza. The Ukrainian Peace Plan had 91 countries support the discussions and 80 signed the final Accord. This is a great 1ST effort and has isolated Russia led by Putin. What Russia thinks under Putin’s leadership is increasingly irrelevant. As Putin’s Russian war machine starts to retreat, the terms of a final Peace Accord will be more defined. The terms will be increasingly harsh towards Russia.

  8. You dont end war by giving more weapons to Ukraine this doesn't make sense putin has put down a deal which is very fair no to being in nato and the border has moved to protect the Russian speakers from the fascist Ukrainian government

  9. Send a counterproposal
    1. All Russians out of every square meter of Ukraine at the end of this week.
    2. Immediate payment of two trillion dollars in reparations.
    3. All Russian war criminals, Putin included, report to the Hague at the end of the week.

  10. Putin's declaration was simply the opening round of the negotiations. When you begin negotiations, you always start with a position so in your favor, you know it will be rejected. Thats how negotiation works. Nobody wants to send their children to die for Ukraine, and no one is going to irradiate half the planet for Zelensky. The West would be fools to ignore the opportunity for peace because Russia can and will simply spend the next five years steamrolling the rest of the country if they have to.
