‘No other way out’: Ceasefire agreement in Russia-Ukraine war is ‘necessary’

it’s been over 2 years since Russia first invaded Ukraine but we seem no closer to ending the war than when it first started the idea of a ceasefire has been pushed by Russian opposition leader gregori yavlinsky who is the founder and leader of the country’s Democratic opposition party yabloko to speak out in Russia is to risk one’s life just ask Alexi naali also a political opponent of President Vladimir Putin who died in jail earlier this year so I say first first of all thank you so very much for your time Gregory I really appreciate it uh it’s very very brave to speak out you met with Vladimir Putin recently to talk about a ceasefire what did that conversation involve that was a very important conversation in terms that uh from my point of view and for me it’s obvious there is no other way out uh it is necessary to conclude a ceasefire agreement as soon as possible possible without any preconditions after that start to discuss the positions of for Ukraine and Russia in details nothing will work without ceasefire this is my position and I was trying to explain this point very important point to President Putin so how did he received the message that that you were trying to give him was he open to what you had to say he accept the message but there were no answer gregori something that people use quite often uh in terms of pushing propaganda around this war they point us to the polls in Russia and they say most people in Russia want this war look at this poll now I don’t believe that’s true you’d know much better than I would do most people in Russia want this war several explanations one of them this is a big fear in the country and the people are answering in the polls under the big pressure of two things of terrible fear and propaganda so honestly speaking this is very far from reality I think I think so tell me this how do you fight for what you believe in when the regime you’re fighting against is so brutal it’s the kind of Courage that that I can only imagine to be honest um someone like you fighting for what you believe in when the the risk could be death how do you put your fear aside this is my people this is my country I’m doing that for my country for my people for future as far as I understand what to do and how to do that I’m continuing to do that so this is how it happens nothing more it’s not it’s not too special would you like Donald Trump to win the election in November do you think Donald Trump in power is good for Russia for Russian people he often talks about his relationship with Vladimir Putin um what are your thoughts listen let me be in that case a politically professional okay not seemly coming from the mood and feelings but from uh uh from from brains and to say nobody in the world knows what he’s going to do this is a problem with Trump he don’t know what he’s going to do he don’t know so it’s a it’s a it’s it’s a very special situation it’s if to be serious it’s very difficult to to analyze the the politics and behavior of the PE a person when you have no idea what he’s going to do he’s saying in the morning one thing in the evening another thing so yeah and finally you were speaking to me and I so grateful that you are I’ve wanted to speak to you for a very long time I’ve been chasing this for a long time but the consequences I know are so dangerous for you why do you speak so honestly and openly with me when you know what the end result could be of doing this it’s necessary conclude a ceasefire agreement otherwise we can go as far as a big war European War maybe the world well look at nuclear nuclear threat I’m saying that nuclear threat is serious it’s not a joke uh you mentioned nuclear then and that significant issue particularly off the back of Kim Jong-un and Putin meeting in North Korea and and signing a PCT that is well very terrifying for the rest of the world their relationship in general is terrifying I’d love to know your perspective on Putin’s threats to unleash his Arsenal to use nuclear weapons in this war are they empty threats or should we be worried be careful it’s a possible thing I’m not saying that it’s just 100% And I’m not saying this tomorrow I’m not saying that but my message is be careful it’s not a joke it’s not just simply just populistic populistic slogan it’s a very serious thing there is such a book Sleep Walkers Sleep Walkers who brought the world to the first world war don’t be Sleep Walkers today gregori y Linsky are so grateful of your time thank you so much for joining me here on Aaron and I look forward to hopefully chatting to you down the track thank you very much thank you much

Russian United Democratic Party Yabloko leader Grigory Yavlinsky says there is “no other way out” of the Russia-Ukraine war than with a ceasefire.

It’s been over two years since Russia invaded Ukraine, yet a resolution seems no closer than when it first started.

“It is necessary to conclude a ceasefire agreement as soon as possible with any preconditions,” Mr Yavlinsky told Sky News host Erin Molan.

“Nothing will work without ceasefire.”

  1. Navalny was killed by the West(the CIA or MI6 most likely). His death was used as a tool to spread the negative rhetoric against Putin and to counter the famous interview he did with Tucker Carlson. Putin gained nothing from his death.
It's obvious if you have a decent IQ and an open mind. Tucker's interview with Putin was done on February 8 and a few days later Putin "supposedly" killed Navalny. Sure…

  2. Hey Erin your mates on Sky have been criticising Bill Belichick for having a younger woman 40 years younger. Now you are Singletons squeeze you should be insulted.

  3. A Cease-Fire? Wasn't the Istanbul Peace Agreement about an END to the conflict after 6 weeks and NOT just a cease-fire?
Is it me? Or is she saying the things she's saying trying to convince herself of this BS?😂😂😂
They're trying to say you can't have peace talks to end the conflict without a cease-fire. Which is really stupid. Sweden has help 7 war planning summits…. the so called 'Peace' summits with Ukraine and other nations. The last one was a total joke and a total humilation.

  4. Cease fires only provide time to re-arm and re-group. but gotta love all the armchair bandits and their infinite knowledge of military tactics.

  5. Hey but Ukraine is winning and the counteroffensive is gaining momentum what's going on 🤣🤣🤣

  6. Such propaganda! This guy is a stooge! Putin has wanted peace talks since the beginning … he never wanted all of Ukraine he would prefer they are neutral and without CIA interference under the guise of NATO defence! No European wants to go to war for Ukraine. Where will they get the boots on the ground from?

  7. Putin wants peace. NATO and EU are pro War because they overplayed there hand. no Centimeter east remember?

  8. It’s up to the Ukrainians…

if someone invaded somy else’s home and abducted family members, they would not want someone to tell them when to stop fighting to get their family back….

  9. A "ceasefire agreement" with people illegally on your property attacking you with weaponry 🤔🤔. Nah, get off my property, then we'll have a ceasefire.

  10. The war will end when Russia withdraws to the 2014 border! The opinion of this western wet is just stupid as Korea has a ceasefire still and that war needs to be resolved!
