Russia’s “Massive” Strikes Damage Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructures, Two Injured

Russia launched “massive” overnight strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure on June 21. Ukrainian authorities reported significant damage to transmission facilities in Zaporizhzhia and Lviv, with two employees injured in the attack. Recently, Ukraine has reported increasing Russian attacks on Ukrainian power plants. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on June 20 that Russian attacks have destroyed half of Ukraine’s energy capacity. He announced new measures to protect Ukraine’s energy system, including plans to install solar panels at all hospitals and schools. Zelensky has repeatedly asked allies, including the US, to send more air defence systems to protect the country’s vital infrastructure. Earlier, NATO member Romania announced that it would send a Patriot missile system to Ukraine. Zelensky thanked Romania, adding that his team is working “to secure the delivery of several more Patriots.”

  10. Solar panels are useless in winter. Wind is useless because it is inconsistent. ONLY FOSSIL FUELS and nuclear energy are reliable. Nuclear energy needs to be redesigned to produce less waste and yes, such a thing already exists.
