US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien says victory strategy for Ukraine implies stopping Russian advances in eastern Ukraine, depriving it of the ability to move further, using close-range fire positions, and inflicting economic damage on the aggressor state, according to Ukrinform.
In April 2024, James O’Brien stated that if Ukraine began EU membership negotiations, established’ a bridge’ — a clear path to NATO membership—implemented reforms, and continued to fight with Western weapons – it could win, regardless of what Putin decides to do.
According to the official, Ukraine’s victory strategy involves depriving Russia of the opportunity to use its fire positions and preventing it from disrupting Ukraine’s economic recovery.
It can be achieved by supplying Ukraine with air defense systems and other weapons, allowing it to persist in its fight for an extended period of time.
The US State Department representative also noted that defining Ukraine’s success means it should eventually control its internationally recognized territory.
Last week, Biden’s administration officially announced a change in priorities for supplying missiles for advanced air defense systems, redirecting orders from other countries to meet Ukraine’s needs. The situation on the front line in eastern Ukraine is worsening but local defenders are so far holding firm against a concerted push by Russia’s bigger and better-equipped forces. Cities in Russia’s crosshairs, including recent target Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine, are pulverized by Moscow’s missiles, drones and glide bombs.
The Donetsk and Luhansk provinces together make up the Donbas, an expansive industrial region bordering Russia that President Vladimir Putin identified as a focus from the war’s outset and where Moscow-backed separatists have fought since 2014.
Recall Russia was unable to make headway in eastern Ukraine and even lost ground in its newest incursion in the northern Kharkiv region, which was designed to distract Ukrainian defenders.

So silly, even I can come up w that strategy 🙄🙄🙄
yeah, well russia's strategy so far has been:
russia loses equipment
russia loses personnel
russia advances
i haven't seen anything changing that formula.
the extreme number of casualties russia has incurred mean they can only last another 50 or 60 years at this rate.
so there is that.
It is actually working pretty well so far. Russia is burning around 40% of their GDP on the war, the cold war reserves of weapons are running dry, NATO has more members than ever before, increased the militry-spending + production rate, Armenia is trying to leave the Russian pact, Georgia is not fan of Russia either. The Ukraine isn´t the only threat Russia is facing – be it their neighbors or threats from within Russia- for example the land that was conquered before, like Dagestan, Chechnya etc. Russia isn´t exactly a country united in peace. Also, Russia just sought help from North Korea- one of the most underdeveloped countries on earth. What does that tell you ?
Why not pushing Russia out?
Slava Rossia 🇷🇺💪🪖😄
The frog is slowly boiling…..
O que os estadunidentes estão consumindo atualmente? Quero duas doses, por favor! (os americanos estão cozinhando essa guerra em que eles mesmo são responsáveis, assumida no acordo de Minsk)
