Juve plan to sell Chiesa this summer, and bring in another winger – [Fabrizio Romano]

  1. What’s his current salary and what is he asking for allegedly?

  2. I think he joined us at the wrong time. That first year, everything was right. We had a progressive coach in Andrea Pirlo who wanted to use his wingers as much as he could and Chiesa was flourishing under him.

Then Pirlo got fired despite that being his first serious job and replaced by Allegri. Not saying Allegri is a bad coach or anything but Allegri’s time at Juventus was marred by the “Plusvalenza” debacle and the whole board resigning and Pogba doping and Fagioli getting banned for six months. Plus the points penalty and getting banned from Europe. It was endless.

And of course Chiesa suffering that ACL injury in the Roma match. All this and he never had a chance to properly integrate in the team after that first season.

Hate to say it but Chiesa could have been a lot more for Juventus if he joined us at a stable time. Arguably one of the best Italians wingers. This one hurts….

  3. How does he not see one of our best players as part of his “project?”

  4. FYI some of the wingers reporters have mentioned that Juve are interested in include:

Rodrigo Riquelme from Atletico (LW and wingback), Edon Zhegrova from Lille (RW), Johan Bakayoko from PSV (RW)

And then there’s Jadon Sancho, who apparently can only be acquired if Man U is willing to loan him out.

Personally I think Bakayoko is the best player and also has the highest potential, but he might be too expensive for them to really go after. I also really like Riquelme, and he might not cost an arm and a leg. Fun player to watch as well.

  5. I like Chiesa but for some reason I think this is because of his ego. Let’s be honest, he does not deserve a pay rise. I believe it’s more than just a new coach’s preference. If Chiesa wanted, he would have signed a new contract long time ago, just kept stalling things and now we have what we have. He’s being greedy just like Dybala who ended up playing for way less eventually, same gonna happen to Chiesa.

  6. Please don’t sell him to Roma or Napoli though. They are our competitors in the league, it wouldn’t make any sense at all.

  7. Finally. 2 years of pure and utter impotency and the audacity of asking for a salary increase. Enough of these mediocre wanna be rock stars.

  8. I’m heartbroken, but I guess I somehow have been expecting this. Doesn’t make it any better.

  9. If you removed the 21 Euro from memory this really isnt a huge loss. He hasnt developed in 3 years, lets move on and trust Giuntoli and Motta to build a winning cycle again

  10. I don’t really have attachment to players, I just want Juve play good football and win trophies. I trust Motta and if he does not hold Chiesa at high regard, we cannot risk losing him on free.

  11. This one hurts… but I do understand the thought process behind the decision.

Chiesa has been too reticent to renew his contract, asking for a pay rise even though he did little to deserve it. We’re risking to lose him in 2025 for free and we can’t afford that.

On top of this, the torn ACL changed him – he’s no longer that explosive player who could dribble anyone. He’s conservative, less fast, and has shown little improvement in his technique over the past years.

So, if we do end up selling him, I would understand this. Even if it would hurt.

  12. This sucks but I get it, he hasn’t been the same since the injury, didn’t have a great euros and he wants to be paid more.

  13. I really like Fede but there’s no reason to give him a salary increase that big, he has not showed the quality he first did under Pirlo (obviously due to his injury) and someone needs to give. He didn’t so we must sell, thats how it is.

  14. Are we gonna have any Italian players, actually playing for us?

  15. Dybala and Chiesa in two years, my Juve heart can’t take this. F*ck these last 3 years with Allegri man

  16. Crazy Allegri got so much backlash for subbing him and Motta doesn’t get anything for not even trying him in his system.

  17. Disappointed but it is what it is. He’s asking for too much and if Motta doesn’t see him as important it’s best to cash in now. He hasn’t been the same since his injury, but I wish him the best wherever he ends up. Hopefully Soule can step up.

  18. The fact that he is willing to go to roma proves his confidence has taken a hit and he wants a sure thing. Overall playing for allegri if your not a specific type of midfielder is annoying

  19. Good luck Chiesa! Glimpses of a world class player and injuries like Dybala. I wish he stayed but I believe he chose poorly, decided to go for more money and not extending for a year. Forza Juve!🦓

  20. There is a risk of too much change too fast. It may take a while for the players to become a cohesive unit. (Chelsea is a good example, but Insuppose one could point to Liverpool’s midfield rebuild last summer as somewhat of a counter example).

Also, what veterans will demonstrate the standard of professionalism required at training, at games, in and around the club and the community? Danilo is one, but who else? I don’t think anyone has a clue about how next season will go – could be great, could be disappointing. Wouldn’t be surprise either way.

    End of rambling.

  21. Hard pill to swallow but I think it’s a huge reality check for us fans. Chiesa was easily the best Italian talents when he signed with us but he came into this club at one of its worst. One year with Ronaldo and Pirlo, both leave then Allegri comes in. Becomes a sensational player while helping Italy win the Euros with limitless potential but then gets the acl injury. Since then with the club scandals and recuperating from his injury he is just nowhere near the player he once was and that is reality.

It sucks to hear but at the end Giuntoli is right with this one. If a player isn’t willing to comprise and realize that they are not the best player on the team then they can go. Let us hope we get an adequate fee for him and Motta and Giuntoli cook with a new winger, preferably not sancho tho.
