AI is helping Iran’s regime to crack down on Iranian women’s freedom in 2023 the Iranian Parliament approved a hijab and Chastity bill which is currently awaiting ratification it would allow police to use AI facilitated practices like facial recognition CCTV or geolocation for monitoring businesses would be forced to turn in video footage for compliance checks and women who fail to cover their hair properly would face consequences ranging from fines to social exclusion or even imprisonment in 2022 the regime likely used AI to monitor social media during protests after the death of Mara amini in preparation for the bill Iran purchased video recorders from China and installed camera systems all over the country reports suggest that 70% of Iranian women do not abide by the government strict hijab regulations

Iran’s regime is increasingly using artificial intelligence as a tool to crackdown on women’s rights. A new Hijab and Chastity Bill could worsen the situation for Iranian women even more.

  2. I think it’s about time the woman step up and really push back. I know easy for me to say when death or jail would be in their future for doing so but at what point do you not really have a life? I’d say when you get in trouble for showing your hair it’s that time.
