1. We are only 6 days away from the first training session with Don Vince. Pre-season hype building…

2. What’s the staring CB pairing Kompany has in mind once MdL is sold? Upa-Kim? Tah-Kim? Upa-Tah? Ito a dark horse?

3. We only need to finance half of the 200 million via player sales right. So, if we plan to sell Coman, Maz, etc, we can already raise around 50 million. So we only need to sell one of De Ligt or Kimmich right. Then why are we trying to offload both?

4. Looking more likely that Upamecano and Kim will be our starting CB’s, no rumours of Kimmich, Goretzka or Laimer departing…

   I’m afraid Kompany is coming in and will start the project where Tuchel started, rather than where he took it to.

   I hope the board is giving Kompany some freedom and that these are his decisions/his vision and not the boards.

5. United apparently offered £45+5m for Branthwaite while only putting 43m up front for De Ligt. We’re doing them quite generous here, should ask for close to £50m something

6. Bro the De Ligt rumours are deadass breaking my heart. Especially for a guy like Tah who didn’t even show a fraction of the class of Matta.

8. I started messing around with one of these based on the moves we are rumoured to make the rest of the summer.

   This accounts for Maz, Coman, De Ligt sales and potentially Goretzka. I could only put 2 deep on the sheet so I couldn’t get Stanisic included. The right back position looks a bit thin by adding Stani and selling Kimmich.

   What does everybody think? Good mix of old and young, key depth pieces in Olise, Laimer, Tah, Davies. If this was the XI, I’d imagine Kimmich would push forward and we’d slide into a back 3 in possession.

9. Dortmund went from the biggest cry babies about “you destroy the league by buying the best players” to become the worst looters of Bundesliga players in recent seasons.

   And still, if we buy someone from Bundesliga, we will be called the cluhlb who destroys the league

10. Thiago’s wife’s Instagram post on his retirement, the first 3 football related photos are all Bayern. It makes it hurt even more that he’s gone from football. Truly one of the most mesmerising footballers I’ve ever seen.

13. I wonder if we sell kimmich would we try to buy another cm? If pavlovic gets injured we could have problems. Laimer is great for depth but not very creative, guerreiro is constantly injured, and I don’t want to talk about goretzka

21. I love De Ligt but I feel like a lot of people overrate him.

    Beyond the “he didn’t get a single minute at euros” or “he had trouble being a starter elsewhere” arguments, I think it’s important to note that he isn’t a complete CB. He’s a defensive monster, but offensively/in the build up he leaves a lot to be desired and he’s not as versatile as some of the other top CBs in the world.

    I think the price being quoted is fine really, he’s not a top 5 CB in the world, he’s got clear gaps in his game, he’s not a complete defender (imo), not particularly fast, doesn’t play multiple positions, pretty injury prone, etc. 50m seems pretty fair, yes 60 would be nice, but I don’t think we’re getting ripped off like some others suggest.
