No it wasnt because of this friendly match it was because we lost Benzema that season and we didnt sign a striker we lost the best keeper in the world for a whole season. Ofcourse there where many people who thought we would flop i dont even think that there was at that moment a single Madrid player that thought we gonna win the la Liga with so much points ahead of barca and win the ucl.
Every preseason idiots draw far gone conclusions based on training games. It’s an unfortunate side effect from top teams now playing against eachother every summer.

I feel like friendlies never count to how a season will go. It’s just a training match between two clubs which happens to have a crowd to earn some extra cash and visibility to new fans in other parts of the world. I rarely watch friendly games. I prefer watching competition matches.
