Corbyn on Labour’s victory

we got more votes in 2019 than labor achieved on Thursday we got far more votes and we got even more than that in 2017 indeed the vote in 2017 was the highest this Century for labor this vote is on 33% of the vote that’s only 1% up on what I achieved we have a two part two two-party Direction in this country which gives us a first P the post system which uh aerates majorities and depresses minorities and so there is a huge debate there uh what went wrong for the Tories was they collapsed this result is more about Tory collaps than anything else

“We got more votes in 2019 than Labour achieved on Thursday.”

  1. It is criminal the way that this guy is demonised by the media, popular press and social media. Same was for Michael Foot! Both share same attributes extremely rare in politics, honesty, integrity and just being nice blokes. I don’t agree with each of their politics entirely, but this level of bullying isn’t acceptable under any circumstances.

  2. Corbyn can spin it all he likes.

What truly matters is whether a political party wins or loses a General Election. Labour under Corbyn lost in the 2017 and spectacularly so in the 2019 General Election.

Labour under Kier Starmer won a 172 seat landslide win in this month’s General Election.

  3. He's dead right.
And Corbyn got those votes when every major media (and that incluedes ESPECIALLY the Internet properties) was teling the public that Jezza was the Antichrist (and still no-one has found anything to support those lies) whilst Starmer has been praised as 'PM Material' by every Media outlet that money can reach.
Let's also remember that in 2019, NO Media talkeed of labour's policies, bhut only of 'Brexit'. The Leave papers told us "Labour is for Remoan" and the Remain papers (all both of them) said "Corbyn is a Leaver". In reality, Labopur's position was 'THis 'for reference3 onl;y' referendum has no factual basis. We'll find out what the facts are, ask for a better deal and then let the public decide when they know the facts.

In 2019, the public voted for both ignorance and lies… as they were told to do.
In 2024, the Tory Vote was split by Reform – the private company (yes, not a Party but a Business) which makes political capital from making things worse.
Jezza brouigyht hope. Starmer brings only surrender to Tory Policies and ultimate despair.

  4. Labour won because because of the drop in votes for the conservatives. Total Labour votes were only a couple of percentage points more than last year. If JC was Labour leader, I think we’d see an actual landslide win.

  5. He's right BUT tactical voting has been proved to be largely responsible. In an effort to get the Tories out people were steered towards Labour or the Lib Dems hence Labour getting significantly fewer overall votes.

  6. This was not an enthusiastic endorsement for f starmer and labour like it was for Blair in 97

This was a punishment vote against the conservatives compounded by the appeal of reform and Nigel Farage filling that centre right / right void of politics
