long-range missiles are about to become a reality on German soil for the first time since the Cold War Russia is angry at the US German decision to station longrange missile systems including tomahawks in Germany from 2026 the kremin says it will react with quote military measures to what it sees as a provocation but that’s only the beginning at the 75th NATO Summit in Washington Germany and several other European countries announced their own plans to develop their own longrange cruise missiles aware that they are raising the stakes it is something of deterrence so it’s uh securing peace and it is a necessary and important decision at the right time the move underlines the Chancellor’s efforts to position Germany as NATO’s number two behind the United States it’s also a political gamble for a leader who only has one more year in office before voters head back to the polls again
