(@FabrizioRomano) on X: Real Madrid, also informed of Leny Yoro’s travel to Manchester to finalize his move to United. Real have always been clear: €20/25m for Yoro this summer or join as free agent in 2025. He’s now in Manchester to undergo medical at Man United.

Well now we know the figures of both Utd and Real Madrid.
– Madrid basically said if you want to come to us, we’ll have you. If not, then fuck off lol
No wonder Lille wanted Yoro to sign for Utd, they offered 2.5x more than Madrid (€62m to €20/25m), that’s SIGNIFICANTLY higher. I would too.
No doubt Utd offered him more money as well. I believe £150k p/week was the offer, not sure about Madrid.
I mean, there you go. If you want to beat Madrid at signing you HAVE TO outspend them by quite a lot.
€62m for Yoro with 1 year left, that’s got to be a record right? I don’t recall a player so young or even a player of any age going for so much with 12 months left on his deal.
But let me ask you this — if Saliba or Konate had 1 year left back in 2019/20 when they were 18-20 years old, would you spend that much on them?
how many more tweets jesus fucking christ he is annoying
Madrid’s ethos is: come to us and be successful. If they want to go elsewhere that’s their choice, but Madrid is Madrid.
They rarely missed on their transfers in the last 10 years:
– 2014: James (had a 3 good seasons with them), Keylor, and Kroos. Obviously a great window.
– 2015: Kovacic, Vazquez, Danilo, Asensio, Vallejo. Another good window.
– 2016: Morata for €30m (sold a year later to Chelsea for €65m)
– 2017: Ceballos, Theo Hernandez
– 2018: Mariano (bust), Valverde, Courtois, Odriozola, Vinicius, Lunin, Odegaard, Brahim
– 2019: Militao, Hazard (bust), Jovic (bust), Mendy, Rodrygo, Reinier (bust)
– 2020: none
– 2021: Alaba, Camavinga
– 2022: Rudiger, Tchouameni
– 2023: Bellingham, Guler, Joselu, Garcia
So out of all those major transfers, only a handful of them have been busts.
It’s clear why they’re the best in the business. Targeting Yoro is a seal of approval of some sorts, even if it is expensive
Same old Manu overpaying for players then.
Players from Ligue 1 always seem to adapt better to the Prem than players from other leagues such as the Portuguese First Division and German Bundesliga, so that gives a bit more hope. Hopefully he’s worth the fee, and doesn’t push for a move to Madrid in 3 years.
There’s no way to wrap this, €70m on an 18 year old from the French league with a year left on his contract is awful business and it looks even worse when United told everybody they wouldn’t be ripped off anymore.
