Ederson clarifying fake rumours. The amount of fabricated “articles” this summer already has been a joke.

I don’t believe Sam Lee would be wrong and this is an obvious PR statement
Sam Lee was probably right on this, again. Ederson isn’t exactly going to come out and say “yep, that’s all true 👍🏻”.
Sam’s tier 1 for a reason and Ederson didn’t exactly hide his feelings at the time.
I respect Ederson for being a real competitor. You see grown ass men cry when they get injured before a major international tournament, Edi got pissed off. Players react differently to situations when they know they won’t be able to represent their country.
I’d rather have someone crying or being pissed off for not being able to represent their country than someone not giving a fuck about it.
I still gotta back u/Sammy_Goal here… he has been one of the most consistent and accurate journalists covering our team for a long time now.
I think it is also good that Sam Lee is also willing to post negative stories about the team/players as well. I am confident that Sam would not publish a story without adequate sources. That doesn’t mean he can’t make mistakes or his sources may have been incorrect or perceived the comments differently that Ederson may have.
I also think it’s important to recognize that Ederson has a clear incentive to deny the story. I think on the other hand, Sam has an incentive to tell the truth. His livelihood is dependent on readers trusting the stories he publishes. If he pushes out bogus stories people will just stop reading and the Athletic won’t keep him employed.
These are just my two cents… lots of football fans are insane and will believe anything one of their favorite players say. We’ve seen a similar situation a year ago with Sam Lee and Mahrez in the past and Sam Lee was proven correct.
I’ve heard united fan Sam Lee is tier 1. Ederson must be wrong. Remember he dropped that hot story that we were guilty at CAS, just before we were cleared.
Honestly I’m with Ederson here, what has been reported doesn’t really fit his personality as we’ve seen so far, and that reflects how he plays on the pitch (with confidence, perhaps too much, being compared to a madman at times) – the way he plays require a strong mindset (which means he HAS a strong mindset), whereas the report indicates the opposite.
This is not to say Sam Lee was lying, I know he’s tier 1, maybe the source was, or it was something smaller that was blown out of proportion etc. And yes I’m aware it makes perfect sense for Ederson to deny purely from a PR perspective, which (in theory) makes Sam Lee more credible.
But I don’t know, for me the story simply never made sense for the previously mentioned reasons.
If Ederson leaves (I really hope not), it’s going to be because Saudi is offering him a truckload of money, and not because he’s sulking that Ortega got more attention than him.
