Burning tires is a crime against nature!
This plant is on Ukrainian land. Ukraine would NEVER compromise or endanger the lives of its OWN people and its OWN land. In addition, Russia uses the plant as a storage facility for its weapons and tanks. Who DOES that??
Eco-terrorists, just like Russia blew up a f damn in Zaparizia too!
oh my god. this is very very dangerous for european country😱
A cooling tower is filled at the lower part (above the air entrance and below the water piping) with a filler from a sheet material which breaks the incoming water into small drops (like heavy rain). That way the surface is created to allow the water to be cooled by air draft. The air draft comes from the empty upper part (chimney effect).
The sheet material typically is PVC or GRP sheets.
If the cooling tower is not in operation it’s a lot of plastic and a lot of air. If this catches fire it will burn quite lively.
The cooling tower will be out of order for some time (until the sheet material is replaced. Difficult/impossible under the current circumstances). Possibly even more damage to the structural integrity of the cooling tower.
Typical provocation of the russian regime

At this point you could tell the average DW viewer that the Russians started shooting themselves in the head and they would believe it
Putler's tantrum, burning tyres.
desperate move by putin? 😅
Why would Russia attack a nuclear power station that Russia control. Just like the attack on the Nord stream pipeline that Russia attacked. If you belive this I'm sure there's a circus thats employing clowns somewhere 🤡
Who’s attacking who?
Russia shelling itself again
Russia🇷🇺 have border/maritime disputes with Ukraine, Georgia, Japan.
make border/maritime agreement & peace!
If only Russia didn't attack Ukraine
Zelensky is responsible. He wants to destroy it if he can't control it.
Not saying it was Russians, but it was Russians.
I don't care about this account))) but the entire Internet will know about your behavior.
There is nothing that can burn in the cooling tower. It's just steel and cement. What a lame attempt to blame Ukraine.
Funny how these reporters dont mention the attacks and shelling of it by Ukraine including warning the Ukrainian government to stop attacking it.
I don't know that Ukraine tells the truth 100% of the time but I do know that Russia lies 100% of the time so I have zero reason to ever believe a thing Russia says over anything Ukraine says.
Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant is already under Russia control
whats the point Russia to attack its own nuclear power plant?
will Germany attack its own power plant?
I thought I tasted nuke in the air this morning.
Are there any leaks????
The Ukrainian nuclear power plant is in cold shutdown, so there's no risk of a meltdown. The fire is limited to a cooling tower located about a mile away. According to reports, the Russians deliberately set tires or diesel fuel on fire at the base of the cooling tower to create the appearance of an attack on the plant. This was likely a psychological operation (PSYOP) aimed at spreading fear of a potential nuclear meltdown.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reports that Russia claims the Ukrainians struck the cooling tower with a drone. However, this is implausible—Ukraine is unlikely to attack its own nuclear plant, even if it’s under Russian control. Moreover, cooling towers are made of concrete, which doesn't burn.
Sneaky Russians.
This nuclear power plant has been bombed by Ukraine for the second year! Everyone is used to it! There is no danger there! The IAEA has confirmed this! It's built of concrete!
Pootin having a temper tantrum.
The RZs are simply threatening to blow it up…
Tire fire on top of the Russian held power plant. How did the Ukrainians get the tires on top? Of course it's Russian disinformation.
this will slow talks of converting to nuclear energy
