16. This is not a suicidal mission. Ukraine expects a counter offensive at some point and will determine if and when a fighting withdrawal is needed.

17. Their goal was to strike hard and fast to get as close as possible to Kurk Nuclear Power Station so they could trade it off for Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station in southeastern Ukraine, which is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and has been under Russian control for 2.5 years.
    This planned objective has failed. It's now only about a PR exercise to keep the money flowing from NATO.

    It's an expensive PR exercise with significant losses and few positive meaningful gains.

'could give Kyiv leverage in any peace negotiations' – actually this comment is true (generally) but only if they held the position until those negotiations which themselves seem unlikely given that Russia have no trust in the West and UKR have been instructed not to negotiate; at least until after the US elections. This is a 20km gain (according to Western media, but let's assume that is factual) – bet compare it to the incremental gains Russia has been making every day along the entire front (again using pro Western map sources). UKR would have been better off concluding the peace negotiations in March 2022 (before then UKPM BJ intervened on behalf of Washington). If peace was negotiated today UKR are in a far worse position than March 2022. I don't think Russia are interested in negotiations any more – unless NATO decides to go all out (possibly including nuclear options) this conflict will only end with Russia destroying what is left of the UKR military entirely and then unconditional surrender.

    An interesting position is that the aggressor/"second army of the world" can focus all its power on 1-2 villages of Ukraine, and Ukraine must be strong in almost all-round defense.
