When gay men catch it, the reporting focuses on sexual behaviour in an overtly judgmental or moralistic way: those who catch it are described as 'spreading' the disease promiscuously, as irresponsibly threatening pregnant women and babies, as a vector of disease and bridge to the 'innocent' heterosexual population.
