Ancelotti after Real Madrid draw: “We lacked balance”. “I am not happy with the draw because we could have done better. We needed more attitude”. “We can learn a lot from this game because it seems clear where we could have a problem”.

>We lacked balance
I mean, at least Don Carlo knows what the problem was lol. We played 3 LWs (3 best LWs in the world even) against a team that parked the bus from the beginning and was willing to defend with their lives.
Playing 3 LWs isn’t the problem (at least “wasn’t” a problem against Atalanta), but starting 2 games in a row with the same line up AND playing almost all of your players 90 minutes is…
Oh yes Mr. Ancelotti;
Guler, Diaz and Vazquez was supposed to save the game in… “checks notes” 7 minutes of time when they were on the field. (Half of those 7 minutes were wasted by Mallorca anyway)
I love him and I still acknowledge that he’s sometimes too stubborn with his tactics/decisions. This game was screaming for Diaz and Guler (2 creative attacking midfielders we got, who both can play on the right and the center) from minute 70 and onwards, and he delayed the inevitable as much as he could. He sometimes seems like he is refraining from subbing out the “star” players of the team more than he should. Vini was basically trying out skill moves like he was playing FIFA, he wanted to dribble past the defenders so badly, Jude looked like he was gonna drop dead if not for the sub out, and Mbappe still doesn’t look comfortable with his new CF position. Rodrygo was good, but he almost always came to left to find some chances to shoot/create play, which was also one of the reasons for the “imbalance”. We couldn’t build attacks from right or the center.
I think we will do fine against bigger sides this season
But we have a problem against parking the bus
Joselu is type of player we miss in these situations- a battering ram that can score from set pieces or crosses
Yeah, then stop overloading one side of the pitch with 3 left wingers and rotate them instead (this annoyed me the entire last season even with 2 LW). Leave the right side for a natural left winger such as Arda or get a worldclass RW instead. Apart from that what kind of nonsense is that to substitute in the 88th minute (you do that all the time)? The bench players are world class Real Madrid players and not some numbnut 2nd class team members who need to play so that they don’t feel sad. I say it here and now, Ancelotti wins titles not because he’s such an amazing coach but because Real Madrid has incredible talent. Put Mourinho, DeZerbi, Klopp or Alonso in there and they will achieve the same.
