Lithuania, Germany sign deal on stationing of German troops | DW News

Since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, European countries have scrambled to increase their defense capabilities. Among the states feeling most vulnerable is Lithuania, which shares borders with both Russia and its ally Belarus. Germany is among the NATO allies sending soldiers to beef up Lithuania’s border security. DW visited some of the troops stationed there.

  9. Reminds of German volunteer units, during the Lithuanian War of Independence in 1919, the contribution of Saxon volunteers to the independence of Lithuania was great.

  18. The Germans will be the first to flee and then they will come to an agreement with the Russians like in 1939. Lithuania should focus on cooperation with Poland and the USA, and not with Russian-loving Germans without an army.
