  1. I’ve had both and they’re both good. Only difference is the Turkish version ruined my digestive system for a week. I’d stick with Berlin.

  2. It can be named as Berlin doner or German doner whatever but as a taste can’t compete with doner you can eat in Turkey. I had chance to taste both… Just like no one except greek can name feta cheese Doner is the same and belongs where it is generated. Germans can find another name…

  3. Germans saw that its too easy to steal food from Turks by seeing what Greeks were doing. So they decided to take their chance.

  4. It started in Turkey in the Ottoman times, and then it spread across. It exists in the Arab world under the name Shawarma as well and is cooked with a different recipe than Turkish doner. But I never thought that someone might actually want to protect the recipe of doner :D. Shawarma is cooked all over the world and each cook add their own touch on it.

  5. What foolishness. The Turks should be proud that the immigrants to Germany has successfully promoted a bit of Turkish cuisine. It's not as if you can't get doner that will make you sick in Turkey, thank you very much.

  6. Also DW der Kommentar bereich der bei euch ja international ist, ist auch der Meinung das der Döner keine deutsche Erfindung ist ( wie kann man ein Gericht als Erfindung betiteln 🤦‍♂️).

  7. Why do Turks even care how Kebab is prepared in Germany? Just let the Germans have their own variety and enjoy their food as they like it. In Germany, we use veal. Just deal with it. Germany is not (yet) Turkey.

  8. Culture gives and takes. Every invention is usually based on other inventions. Unfortunately, some people do not understand that. Germans who call themselves Turks even though they were born and grew up in Germany have just as little understanding of how the world works as those who believe there is no German Döner Kebab. The version that has prevailed in the western world. The German Döner kebab is different from the Turkish one. Just like the Turk who is actually German is different from old Germans. The name could changed, but why should you do that. Vasistas, Bağnaz, Şinitzel, Şalter….. and countless other turkish words have german roots and became Turkish words. I would be proud to have turned the wheel of cultures.

  9. "Doner expert". There is actually someone who is an accredited "doner expert".

As long as i can eat it, im fine with it being from either or both places.
