FC MIDTJYLLAND owner Anders Holch Povlsen is reportedly exploring the possibility of investing in Dundee United.

The Danish billionaire’s Heartland company already has a partnership with Portuguese club CD Mafra and runs African talent schools.

Povlsen has created a ‘Football Collective’ arm of his business and wants to secure financial and sporting links with more clubs.

He is understood to be the richest man in Denmark with an estimated net worth of £9billion.

The 51-year-old is the owner of clothing chain Bestseller and has shares in ASOS and Zalando. He is also the largest individual private landowner in the UK.

Danish outlet Tipsbladet is claiming that the Midtjylland owner has seriously looked into ways of investing in United as he eyes European partners.

SunSport revealed Premier League side Brentford were interested in a similar link-up with the Tannadice outfit in March of this year.

Bees’ supremo Matthew Benham previously owned Midtjylland – before Povlsen bought him out in August last year.

Back in March, Brighton & Hove Albion were also mentioned in connection with Dundee United.

But since then, Seagulls supremo Tony Bloom moved his attention to United’s Prem rivals Hearts.

Current owner of the Tayside club, Mark Ogren, once had to endure a painful run of not seeing his team win in person for over 14 MONTHS.

The Minnesota-based businessman revealed at the club’s AGM in February that he was not looking to sell up in the short term.

But he hasn’t shied away from the fact that he won’t be around forever.

Ogren said in August 2023: “I probably have more years behind me than I do in front of me (as owner), but I’m not actively looking to sell.

“Frankly, I’ve never had any discussions with anyone about selling the club.

“It probably sounds weird to hear this coming from me right now, but I feel really good about the club. Season ticket sales are great — we had 9,000 people at a Championship game last weekend!

“Retail is up, sponsorship is up and we just made some nice improvements to our facilities. I feel good about Jim Goodwin leading the football operations.”
