  2. Some examples cited in this video of what King Charles has done:

    – Charged the NHS to park ambulances on his estates (received 11 million pounds over 15 years)

    – Charged Royal Lifeboat Association for landing lifeboats on his shores

    – Charged the Armed forces to train on his estates even though Charles is the patron.

    – Not met the new environment standards rules for the properties he rents out

    – Used his position as Prince to lobby for tax credits that would benefit his private company

    … and all the while is exempt from paying corporation and capital gains taxes and still receiving more than 100 million pounds each year from the Sovereign Grant.

  4. Fascinating. I already knew a bunch of this information. The one guest woman explained that a lot of this had come out ten years or so ago.

    I think this investigation is bringing in even more detail. And contrasting their support of various charities during the pandemic whilst taking rents from them.

    Are these fair market rents?? Above or below?

    Do they pay property tax (or whatever the UK equivalent is) on these land holdings.

    For example, in the USA, a renter (usually) only pays rent. The building owner in turn pays property tax. Property tax funds the local community. Roads, schools, libraries, etc.

    There are some entities that are tax exempt. Like in my town of Ann Arbor, Michigan, the university of Michigan is a huge land holder but doesn’t pay property taxes – which leads to a lot of resentment because they aren’t funding the town yet hugely benefiting from its infrastructure.
