British Airways is expanding its Italian offerings with the introduction of three exciting new routes for summer 2025. Beginning in May, the airline will launch direct flights from London Heathrow to Rimini (RMI), located along the Adriatic Coast, and from London Gatwick to Salerno (QSR) on the picturesque Amalfi Coast. Additionally, a new service from London City Airport to Olbia (OLB) in Sardinia will complement existing flights from Heathrow, providing even more options for travelers to explore Italy.

With these additions, British Airways will offer flights to 19 Italian destinations, cementing its position as the airline with the most Italian routes in Europe.

Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, said: “Italy continues to prove hugely popular with our customers, which is why it’s our biggest European destination, and second globally behind the US.

“Last month, we saw a 10% increase in searches for summer flights to Italy compared to 2023, so we’re pleased to be offering an even bigger choice of destinations next year. Rimini, Salerno and Olbia are all coastal destinations, so we expect them to be particularly popular with our leisure customers seeking sun, sea, and of course Italy’s fantastic food.”

New Flights to Rimini Start May 2025

Starting 15 May 2025, British Airways will begin flying to Rimini (RMI), a charming seaside destination in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region. The new service will operate three times a week—on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—offering travelers an easy gateway to this Adriatic gem.

Rimini is renowned for its 15-kilometer stretch of sandy beaches and crystal-clear, shallow waters, making it an ideal spot for beach lovers. The city is also known for its lively nightlife, offering plenty of opportunities for evening entertainment. History enthusiasts can explore landmarks like the Arch of Augustus, dating back to 27 BC, and the Tiberius Bridge, which was constructed in the first century AD.

For those seeking more adventure, Rimini is the perfect base for visiting San Marino, the world’s oldest republic, nestled on Mount Titano. The city center of San Marino is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering a unique blend of medieval history and stunning natural landscapes.

Round-trip fares to Rimini start from £131, with flights running until 27 September 2025.DayFlightDeparts LHRArrives RMIFlightDeparts RMIArrives LHRMonBA53215:2018:50BA53319:4021:15ThuBA53216:0019:30BA53320:1521:50SatBA53215:4519:15BA53320:0021:35
