Say want you want about the North but id rather live there than anywhere else right now. 1 year in London was enough for me to realise how much I love home.

Just did the same! It’s great here.
Was in London recently for work and much as it’s a great city to visit for a few days I came away thinking fuck me im glad i dont have to commute here every day, esp in the summer. Couldn’t hack it at all. I give off about the m1 and translink but I’d take them over the tube in mid August any day. Welcome home for January!
Did the same about 2 months ago, not regretting it at all

Don’t get the Glider then.
Maybe not as bad but the glider is fucking shit don’t expect much difference.
Got the Northern Line to work from Archway for 6 years. Awful. Moved down to Highbury and now cycle. Still would prefer Northern line rush hour to going back to Ballymena
The northern line is the worst of London.
Welcome back..depending on where you end up might change that view.
Congratulations, I love Donegal this time of the year.
Alternaleaf advert there too
London’s amazing for a long weekend or night out, but living there? I can’t imagine anything worse. There’s a reason why so many Londoners are moving to the likes of Belfast and Glasgow
The North (of England) is a much better place to be.
Ahhh, Northern line, Kings Cross, at Rush hour, it’s like the march of the penguins.
Mrs and I, both teachers, moved from London to Tenerife just over 3 years ago and still really miss it. More of a social life and better weather here, for sure. Nicer accommodation too… But there’s nothing like being really in the mix, going to your third gig of the week and enjoying all that diversity has to offer. If I had a decent windfall of cash we would probably move back and just come here for extended holidays.
I live on the English side of the Welsh border. They talk funny here, obviously, but it’s OK, by and large. 8/10
London can fuck right off. Sure, it’s basically France anyhow.
Jesus that is honestly my idea of hell. I am so socially awkward and hate confined space, no thanks.
Good old Translink will soon chase you back to London
I’ve been in London and then Surrey since 2010 – looking to move back to NI with my two kids in the next few months.
I’ve had my fun here but it’s not a place I want to raise kids. Time to go home. I’m so excited, I feel like it’ll be such an upgrade overall.
Thank fuck for fully remote jobs. All the pay rises in the world wouldn’t convince me to suffer through that shite regularly.
Some of the 3 carriage trains over here starting to look like that at rush hr
The payoff is that, whilst you deal with rammed commutes and high prices, you get to benefit from diversity of people, places, food, ideas. Restaurants with every cuisine you could imagine. Career opportunities spanning a plethora of sectors. World class museums.
I moved from NI to London and then to NYC. Both can definitely be tough going for sure. But honestly the effort pays dividends in standard of life for me. I walked my dog round Central Park this morning and will be seeing a new Broadway show tonight, and that’s just a regular Wednesday- I pinch myself often.
My parents freaking hate NYC though, find it too expensive and busy, so it’s all relative.
Have you seen the wellington place glider stop at 5:30pm?
Was touristing on Sunday – I totally forgot how hot and miserable it was.
Public transport that departs regularly, on time and doesn’t get stuck in gridlock traffic for 50 minutes? You don’t know how good you have it!
I moved back to NI from London 5 years ago for better quality of life, and now I miss London so badly! TFL was the best thing ever. You could go anywhere on the bus and tube, at any time of day or night. It was cheap and reliable. Also just the buzz of being in a place with so much action going on. All the industry and people working hard. Free cultural activities, different neighbourhoods, all different types of people living alongside each other.
Old londinium, it sure has a lot of people, but it’s got no soul.
Much prefer the north of England too
Honestly the glider at 8.30 in the morning isn’t much different
Whereabouts? Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle?
Who the fuck willingly goes to Kennington?
Meanwhile I’m moving from rural NI to central London in April lol
Used to go from East Ham into central London almost everyday for 5+ years, and I honestly miss it haha! Yeah it’s busy during certain times, but London and the surrounding area has so much to do and see compared to here.
