Prosecutors on Tuesday recommended sentences for those accused of participating in the rapes and sexual abuse of Gisele Pelicot — abuse organised by her ex-husband Dominique Pelicot. Prosecutors on Monday requested he be given a maximum 20-year sentence.

Dominique Pelicot should get 20 years for every count done by the others. The others should get the maximum 20 years.
The poor woman was raped repeatedly, by many men. Am I hearing it right the maximum penalty is only 20 years?

you know that Dominique Pelicot is also suspected of k1lling and r@ping women in the 1990's, right ? The French police have his DNA on one of the victims. .

France’s shame is not that this happened on French soil—it could have happened anywhere, given the internet. The shame, the very deep shame, is French law and its blasé attitude towards rape.
Life imprisonment and nothing else. They all willingly destroyed the victims life. They stole her life , they took her peace , dignity, passion for life when they comitted crimes against her which they did many times. How in world they are allowed so minimum sentence. Is Justice system mocking her
Dominique Pelicot should never be allowed out of prison. And all the others should get maximum sentences.
They should all get the same sentence but her husband should have the longest sentence possible.

Such a disturbing case. These men raped her. How could they not see she was drugged. Idiots!
So ridiculous & exactly why rape charges are rarely taken seriously. Patriarchy always believing that r*** isn’t serious & equally making it the most difficult charge to prosecute for, sickening.
This wasn’t a one time offense this was continual abuse & rape towards his wife that was a span of 10 years.
He essentially committed r*** CRIMES for over 10 YEARS. It should be 20 years for EACH sex crime not bundle them all into one as a single charge. How ridiculous.

Don’t wait till you commit 10 years worth of crimes then use it as an excuse for sympathy against your crimes.
And hiw many years sentence of pain, betrayal and humiliation does Giselle get? A life sentence and she has already served 9 years.
The Courts need to send a message – and so far, they are not.
