1. So it does appear to fall mainly on the coast, in Spain, rather than the plain.

3. This looks great! One thing you could also do is replace standard deviation with an index that distinguishes between monsoon (wet summer) & west-coast (wet winter) climates, with neutral rainfall distributions in the middle. I find that pulling out the rainfall 3 months after the hottest month is a good way of identifying monsoon climates, and the coldest month for west-coast climates.
