“If ever there was a flag behind which Prince Harry and Prince William could both rally and put aside their differences, one might imagine that their mother Princess Diana’s legacy would be that cause.
Yet for all of the brothers incessant lip service to the concepts such as “community,” “kindness” and “compassion,” they once again revealed their hypocrisy when it comes to living up to their own ideals in their failure to come together in support of their mother’s charity, The Diana Award.
Their inability to appear even in the same virtual space (the awards were held online Thursday), marked a “sad indictment of both brothers obstinacy,” that is harming both of their reputations, friends of the family and former staffers told The Daily Beast.”

  1. Lol. Who cares? They both have valid points and reasons to dislike each other, and we’ve heard about it all for more than half a decade. What a snoozefest the repetition of this story is.

  2. Nah let them live. We all have the right to go no contact.

  3. Tom Sykes, always willing to gin up the most toxic, vulgar take on any royal gossip – especially tidbits which he frequently makes up in his own head.

Edit: this however is a gem, and a very, very accurate take

    >is now causing immense damage not just to Harry’s reputation, but also to the king, who looks weak for not being able to crack his sons’ heads together, and the future king, **William, who looks petty and ridiculous**.

    >“Whether or not it is the case, it looks very much like William refused to attend the awards after hearing Harry was making a video appearance. **Is this how he is going to rule the country?**”

It’s such a bad look for all three of men but William and Kate come off as particularly hypocritical every time the release one of their statements about mental health or about loving one another or whatever. When they can’t even take the lead in their own family to overcome difficulties. How are they expected to lead as sovereigns if they can’t figure out how to make peace within their own family? Unfortunately for them, because they are expected to be leaders, this responsibility falls more heavily on them than Harry or Meghan.

In the end, I think William and Harry are very much their mother’s sons. Diana was renowned for icing out people close to her from her brother, to Sarah Ferguson, to Elton John. Harry and William are just following her lead. As beloved and charismatic as she was, she led a very messed up personal life. Her children have no roadmap on how to do any better at it.

  4. I hate the media push to have them reconcile, fuck that they just want more drama.

  5. That’s a fascinatingly worded headline. The story implies it’s both brothers who can’t stand each other but lo and behold, only William is blamed in the part that most people see. 🙄

  6. Or maybe, just maybe, they chose to let the recipients of the award have their moment instead of it being overshadowed by their interpersonal drama and the media circus that follows.

  7. Atp, the horse is glue.

Let it go for crying out loud.

  8. Ah good old daily beast. It’s a particularly stupid and annoying for them to say it’s hypocritical for the brothers to not resolve their conflict even as they talk about the values of community etc.

The brothers do not owe anybody a personal relationship that is harmful to either of them. The way this quote uses their status and their dead mother to try to brow beat them into something neither of them appear to want is simply gross. Leave it alone already.

  9. For one thing if they appear together the event becomes all about *them* so maybe they should have some credit for not doing that (and I really don’t care for Harry, but I’ll give the credit equally here).

  10. Let me just guess the author, because I won’t give this a click: Sykes.
    Was I right? 😅

Anyway, the funny part is how these tabloid morons act as if they are somehow ‘defending’ Harry or helping him while doing EXACTLY the thing both Harry and William clearly hate.
Like… ffs, leave them alone. Not only we have NO IDEA whether they actually talk (and neither of them would share this with the Daily Beast, lol), they surely won’t start talking because some tabloid wants them to. And idk, it’s been years, who even *cares* now? Does this really still interest people when it’s just repeating the same old bollocks over and over again?

  11. Ugh give it a rest. William and Harry have different personalities, different priorities and are at different stages in their lives. Both went through a lot of trauma at a young age and it’s probably healthy for both men and their families to have some separation right now. Sykes sucks and he has definitely been on an anti William and Kate campaign recently.

  12. Serving the community and family estrangement are not mutually exclusive. It’s a specious comparison.

I’m surprised (I shouldn’t be) that articles like this still attract clicks and readers. Nothing has changed, so why would a different result be expected?
