  1. To do this at scale I prompted gpt-4o-mini to extract all words from 64,000 Reddit usernames. This was done in a few shot manner (i.e. where examples were given).

    Tools: Python & Matplotlib

Source: A random sample of usernames from 64,000 reddit comment authors

  2. Because some of those animals used as slur in some languages.

  3. I’m flattered that a swede isn’t seen as an animal! =)

  4. I’m bothered by the lack of a moose icon on this graphic.

  5. Badgers being let down badly here. Very disappointing.

  6. Would my username be included in the category of fish or is it just for fish?

  7. Yes, for I am indeed a human with a fun nickname and not a cat capable of shitposting on the internet for fake internet points. The cat thing is simply to recognize the earth’s most superior species. I, a regular human, recognize this.

  8. Wouldn’t have guessed that bears were so high. But go wolves!!

  9. Ah it seems we’ve got some work to do to surpass the felines.

  10. I can handle losing to a bear, but seriously? Must be all the CCLs out there.

  11. Fun fact, chameleons are in this picture, we just hide really well.

  12. I’m actually more of a dog person – I was just in an Alice in Wonderland mood when I picked my name.

  13. Curious if “cat” includes related words such as kitten or feline, etc.

  14. What’s wrong with Moose? Why doesn’t it get an icon?!

  15. I love how the data continues in the comment section

  16. How many of the cat names are related to porn accounts I wonder?

  17. What? Where the horses at??

How are you handling the breed names etc for pets?

  18. Yeah okay but some normal person’s names contain the word “cat” unintentionally like Catherine or so. Or other words that are used in usernames. But no name or word randomly has “penguin” in it
