Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) – Working with industry to develop JEFF data library

The Joint Evaluated Fission and Fusion File (JEFF) Nuclear Data Library Project  is a collaboration between NEA Data Bank participating countries. The JEFF library combines the efforts of its different working groups to produce a common set of evaluated nuclear data, mainly for fission and fusion applications. 

The NEA organised the JEFF Nuclear Data Week on 25-29 November 2024, gathering nearly 140 attendees. The event featured nine sessions and over 60 presentations. A key highlight of this edition was the return of the “Feedback from Industry” session, mirroring its inclusion in the November 2023 event. This session exemplified a strategic effort to engage with industrial stakeholders and incorporate their insights into the development of the JEFF library. Industry representatives provided positive feedback noting that the test version JEFF-4T4 outperforms the current reference version, JEFF-3.1.1. The NEA Data Bank aims to strengthen and formalise this industry-focused element in future events and integrate it into the validation process for the upcoming official release of JEFF-4.0.

Participants had the opportunity to engage in diverse sessions offering a holistic view of nuclear data applications, while the integration of industry perspectives demonstrated a forward-thinking approach to shaping the future of nuclear data research. 

The JEFF project meets twice a year. The next edition of the Nuclear Data Week will take place in spring 2025.
