Syria: Prisoners freed from infamous Sednaya jail • FRANCE 24 English

Syrian rebels, led by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group, announced on Sunday, December 8, that they had taken control of Sednaya prison in Damascus and released all of the detainees. The detention center, infamous as a symbol of some of the worst abuses of the Bashar al-Assad regime, had been denounced by rights groups for alleged inhumane treatment and torture inflicted on prisoners.

  1. And now where do they go? Where do they live? Work? Eat? A calm explanation of what is happening would have made this easier for them to understand and less shocking. And now what?? They are now homeless essentially. Don’t misunderstand, it’s amazing to be free but that freedom after a whole lifetime is scary . Especially without any knowledge of what to do next, where to live. How to live.

  2. Give it a year at most and those same "liberators" will be jailing at least as many women for crimes like walking on the street without a male escort, or showing a strand of hair.
