  1. The Big Five personality traits, also known as the five-factor model, include Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. These traits help describe and measure individual differences in personality. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Five_personality_traits](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Five_personality_traits)

The dataset I used was from [https://github.com/automoto/big-five-data](https://github.com/automoto/big-five-data) .
Which was further aggregated from [https://ipip.ori.org/](https://ipip.ori.org/)

The tool I used to make this is Tableau 2024.3

The numbers on the radar chart is percentile. So what the average person would rank in that country.

I used an unsupervised machine learning model called K-Means to cluster countries by similar personalities. To my surprise the countries arent inherently random and make pseudo sense. Maybe you guys can come up with observations 😀

  2. this is one of those things that is meaningless… but not totally… but not useful… but possibly insightful.

Anyway I’m guessing its a nice CS thesis of sorts

  3. I like this because it is actually visually pleasing and you can view and understand the data.

Fonts need to all be doubled in size at a minimum.

  4. this is nice. i haven’t used tableau in a while, but didn’t they have a thing where you could share a tableau on their website or something? would love to click through this

  5. That’s pretty cool! Do we have a link to the dashboard? I’d really like to explore and compare countries

  6. What lib did you use to create the charts? They look pretty

  7. I’m guessing if you’re into this stuff, you know about the cultural dimensions of Hofstede. I always wanted someone to build personalities taking all dimensions into account, is this related to that in any way? It’s weird to say the Dutch and the Danes are in any way similar to Mexicans, Brazilians, and Colombians. I’ve always felt these three countries to be very similar in social behavior, btw.

  8. I spent a good 10 minutes just staring at those K-means, what an interesting set of charts!

  9. I live in Mexico, and can’t say I agree with the personality cluster we got. It says that Mexico has a high consciousness score which I totally disagree on.
