You might feel as if you’ve been seeing a little more of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie than usual lately – and you’d be right. The York sisters, cousins of Princes William and Harry, have been much more prominent in the public eye over the last few weeks; right now, you’ll find them touring the Middle East, championing various causes close to their hearts.
Princess Eugenie is in Doha, and recently visited the M7 art centre to see the Ellsworth Kelly exhibition – the first Middle Eastern retrospective of the artist’s work. Photographs of her in an on-theme sunshine yellow ‘Darby’ dress from royal favourite Diane von Furstenberg show her beaming at the camera in front of a striking, rainbow-striped piece from the Kelly’s ‘Spectrum’ series.
The Princess looked very much at home, which is unsurprising given her previous links to Qatar: last year, she attended a dinner hosted by Sheikha Al Mayassa (the sister of the country’s emir) in London, to celebrate the winners of a Fashion Trust Arabia prize. The mother-of-two also coincided her trip with a stop off at the Chaumet and Nature exhibition in Doha, which opened a few days ago and showcases more than 100 pieces from the luxury jeweller’s collection. Eugenie, who is an art director at cutting-edge gallery Hauser & Wirth, posed on the navy blue carpet at the exhibition, surrounded by smiling representatives from the brand.
