I’m reading stories like this everyday now.
RiP to the woman 💔 condolences to her family.
Shame on all police forces that fail victims of abuse.
I would like to see whole life orders for these types of controlling abuse driven homicides.
Easy to say that she was failed by the police; when she obviously chose to stay despite several altercations requiring police inference.
People cannot be saved if they don’t want to leave, and there is little the police can do in these cases.
Tragic
Aw come on man.
The police officers should be held accountable for this failure. But equally, if I were her brother, I would have been jumping on the police constantly until they got up and did at least the bare minimum. Maybe he did, it didn’t say, but one thing I’ve learned from any UK public service is that the people who run them are lazy and they must be manhandled like children if you want a result. I know work is tough, but we’ve all got to do it, the police included.
But nope, just a throw away line of “Well there was just some poor logic by the guys on duty, oh well lol” and on they go.

New year’s eve 1986, my husband was meant to look after our 6 month old baby while I went to work in my dads pub. He went on a bender all day, turned up pissed about 10 minutes before I was due to leave. I was going to take the baby with me because my brothers all still lived above the pub and they would have helped with the baby. Drunk husband physically threw me out of the house and threw my car keys after me but wouldn’t let me take the baby. My dad and a couple of my brothers went to try and get the baby. He answered the door with my son in one hand and a hammer in the other. We called the police. Police arrived, got the baby from him and gave him to me, then promptly left. I was trapped in the house with this drunken gobshite. There were more episodes over the time it took me to divorce him, and for a year or so after. He was never arrested. The police told me that the restraining order I had was useless because it didn’t have the power of arrest attached. The courts were as useless as the police.
Here we are, nearly 40 years later and the attitude of the police hasn’t changed much
