Just saw this in the Belfast Live News this morning – why oh why do we have such a big antisocial behaviour culture in this country? Having spent time living elsewhere in the UK and Europe and speaking to friends in other countries, I don't see the same issues as we have in NI – it's almost expected of most younger people here at some point to take part in some form of ASB, whether it be throwing rocks at cars, running in front of traffic, intimidation and swearing on public transport or near shops, running around with fireworks and loads of other examples…is it a case of ignorance by parents in not knowing or not wanting to know? A lack of discipline or something else? And…what can we do to change it??

  1. Socioeconomic factors. ASB is rife elsewhere in the UK, don’t know where you’ve been to miss it.

  2. Narcissism is the scourge of modern society and it starts young. I do whatever I want, fuck everybody else. It should be treated as a mental health disorder.

  3. North and South, I think; it started happening in the south when funding was withdrawn from youth projects and social workers in 2008 or so.
