It is the 77th time the venerable publication has been produced and is a rich source of material for number-crunchers, analysts, economists, commentators, policymakers, students, investors, futurologists, anthropologists, and trivia buffs of all kinds.
This year, the statistical yearbook includes a new subsection “Innovation in Entrepreneurship”, which examines the share of innovatively active enterprises, total expenditure on innovative activities, innovative enterprises by type of innovation, enterprise size and number of employees.
“This is an important way to influence Latvia’s performance indicators at the international level, therefore the CSB highly appreciates every enterprise that both provides information in a timely manner and indicates investments in research and development in its reports,” notes the CSB.
The yearbook also includes a new subsection “European Parliament elections”, which publishes a map of election results in administrative territories. In turn, the “Culture” subsection publishes a new thematic map on the proportion of residents using library services in administrative territories.
The publication has 11 thematic sections: geographical characteristics, population, labor market, social security and health, education, science and culture, economy and finance, foreign trade in goods, entrepreneurship, information technologies, industries, as well as Latvia’s social and economic indicators compared to other countries.
The yearbook presents the latest statistical data compared to previous years. It is created by selecting the most important data available in the CSB database , including information held by other institutions, surveys conducted by the CSB, as well as data from state registers and other information systems, supplemented with tables, diagrams and thematic maps.
