Speaking of her own part in royal history, Todd later said that, ‘If it is true that my design helped changed the Prince’s interest in Kate from platonic to romantic as has been reported, then I am pleased to have played a part—however minor.’
Looking back on his time at university, Prince William once joked, ‘It’s often said by the undergraduates of St Andrews that you leave the university in either one of two states: either married or an alcoholic.’ Adding, ‘Fortunately for Catherine and me, we ended up married.’
And, if recent rumours are to be believed, there is another royal romance brewing on the streets of St Andrews. Lady Louise Windsor – the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and sister of the Earl of Wessex (formerly James, Viscount Severn) – followed in Prince William’s footsteps by matriculating at St Andrews. The royal started studying English Literature at the university in 2022, and will no doubt have celebrated her 21st birthday with her St Andrews peers.
One friend in particular, perhaps? Lady Louise Windsor has been hitting headlines in recent weeks, as word begins to spread that she too might have found love in ‘the bubble’ of St Andrews. Donning a splendid little black dress, the 16th in line to the throne was seen dancing at a university fundraiser with Felix da Silva-Clamp.
And how did the two meet? Well, it seems both share a passion for the dramatic world of student theatre. Felix and Lady Louise recently co-starred in Dragon Fever. For those who aren’t in the know, it was a university production that claims to be a hybrid of an Agatha Christie novel and The Hobbit, with the couple respectively playing one Mr Owl and a witch who goes by the name of Nilvana. In photos shared to Facebook, the pair looked to be enjoying a cast party – with Felix winning an award for ‘Best Scene Stealer’.
