  1. Not really a surprise as whenever someone has a difference of opinion now days with a family member or friend it seems the go to advice people give is ‘cut them out your life’

  2. Through choice or circumstance? Some people might want to spend the day alone

  3. I’d rather be alone but I have to drive 80 miles pick up 3 people cook for 4 hours put up with my right wing in laws nonsense and complaining about the food then do washing up for 14 people then drive another 80 miles. Christmas makes you spend way too much money and time with a lot of people I couldn’t give a toss about, but they’re family I guess. I don’t blame people who dodge that shit.

  4. The comments here make me so grateful that my family are actually nice people, like I enjoy spending time with them. I don’t agree with them on everything but all in all I’d much rather be here than not.

  5. I wonder how much of this is due to housing issues? If you’re not near family that has a house, and don’t have a place that’s decent / big enough to have people round, it seems more likely you’ll be having Christmas by yourself.

  6. Since losing my family, I do the same.

Parents died young – money made the others go mad so we drifted apart

  7. That’s a shame. For those who want to do something and have the menas to travel, there are places to volunteer specifically on Christmas day.

  8. Foster Care.

It would be irresponsible for me to have kids, and I have no friends; Used to be surrounded by the worst people though…

  9. Nothing wrong with that. It’s nice and quiet. Don’t have to be social

  10. Are we really advancing as a society when this is the result? I mean, all these so-called progressives out there… are we progressing? Where the hell to?

  11. I’m spending the day with my family but it’s my first Christmas period living alone AND single and I had a lot of leave to use before the end of the year and it’s been a bleak last week or so ngl.
